is your timing off? Or it could be just be that you need a tune up?

i had the same problem when i had a LS and it turned out to be my rotor. it feels like something is holding it back, but once the rom's hit about 2k it just takes off.

There is a screw that holds the rotor on. Just take that screw off and the rotor should slide right off. you might as well just change the cap, plugs and wires to, while you're at it.

While all these ideas are good-and will better your gas milage-if they are a problem.Check to make sure first your radaitor is full.If it is up to level,ok maybe try bleeding the cooling system first(that little fitting on the thermostat housing)to make sure you don't have any air pockets in it.Now comes the bad part if none of that works out for you.On the back of your intake is an IAC valve or whatever they call it,it has two(small)water hoses going to it.Take that off and try to kleen it up first, cuase new ones from Honda ain't cheap.I know mine is now shot and have that reving at idle problem.

Im having the same problem I replaced the IACV and FITV bleeded the coolant system it stopped for a couple of days and then started all over again...its really annoying
you have to turn the motor over to get it into position.... just tap the key a bit to turn the rotor around.
Also its more than likely your IAC : idle air control:.... if your using Hondata you can adjust it from there or you can take it out and clean it up...they get kinda gritty after a while.
i would put money on it being the IAC.

yes the IACV... i figured you knew what i meant.
if that isn't working properly you will get a surge. mine is set incorrectly and i have the same problem... both of my integras did it too.... heck my buddys civic does it too.... all related to being lazy and not cleaning or setting the IACV up correctly.
Before you go and spend money on a tune up or any of that stuff that other people suggested... fix the IACV...im sure thats the problem.
if you search here on HT you'll find topics on how to clean the IACV.

There's two coolant lines connected to it. Take those off.
There's an electrical connector plugged into it. Take that off.
There's two bolts holding it to the intake manifold. Take those off.
Then spray some carb cleaner into the holes until it runs out clean. Most likely it'll be all black and nasty inside. Dont be afraid to use a lot of carb cleaner.
