Default newly built motor runs like crap d16 :(

Hey, i have a d16z6 head on a d16y7 bottom end in my 90 honda civic hatch ive converted it to mpfi and added vtec and its wired up to a p28 and theres no codes flashing when i start it up it runs horrible from 0 - 2000 rpms when i hit 2100 and up it runs normal any ideas? the timing is dead on and the only thing i have left to check is the sensors but im not getting any codes thrown so im still kinda stumped.

thanks alot

Derek

I think that you need to forget the idea that it runs normal after 2100 rpms. If it is fucked up it is fucked up (which it is). If you added Vtec and the other things it should pull harder, so your definition of normal is infact not normal. So buy a helms and figure it out or take it to a shop and let them do it.

you do know there will be timing issues with a d16z6 head on a y7 bottom right?

your timing can't be "dead on".

It's either dizzy or crank timing, and I'd bet that it's crank timing. That's just my opinion based on my own experiences.

And unless you have an adjustable cam gear the timing can't be perfect, eben though it's a d series head on a d series block, there are difference cam gear wise, etc.....
