Default d15b valve seal question.

Well, i got my engine from one of the importers and there is some rust on the valve stems. I was thinking about stripping it all down and cleaning it, but am confused about the valve seals. The problem is that there are two different prices and part numbers given for the intake and exhaust seals. I'm basing this off of the http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com page for a Z6 head. There are some cheap seals from a company NOK (>$1.00/piece). There are also pricier seals from ARAI (~3.00/piece). Does anyone know if the manufacturer makes a difference or could make a recommendation? I'd like to keep it cheap, but not at the expense of reliability. Thanks for your time.

I asked this same question awhile ago, couldnt find the thread though. Basically the NOK are just cheaper seals, I personally am just going to spend the extra few dollars for the better ARAI seals.

I think I may have some OEM Honda seals for a Z6 still...... I bought them when i swapped in my D15B but never used them. I'll check when I go to storage this weekend if you'd like. If not, no worries. Just figured that I'd try to help a fellow HT member out if i could.

I would be very grateful if you would check. I thought this swap process was going to be straightforward, I was wrong. I had to send the first motor back for lots of rust flakes and sticking valves. Seems that rebuilding this one might be easier than shipping again. Thanks again.

In my experience, the dollar apeice ones are fine. You could prolly get em cheaper at auto zone too, I have used those before and they were just fine.

Ok, finally got the whole motor torn down. Doesn't look so good inside. At the minimum, the rings are going to have to get replaced. The problem is, I can't figure out which rings are needed. I did a search, but couldn't find a firm answer. Any thoughts? Thanks
