Default Civic SI with ZC DOCH... Turbo Questions

I have talked to some who say that the 9.1:1 Compression of the motor will run okay with 8lb of boost or somewhere around there. Others say that it is going to be extrelemy rough on a stuck motor and I should rebuild it with new forged pistons and lower my compression to around 8.5:1. How bad will it be for the motor it I put like a t3/t4 turbo kit on it???

Get good fuel management,a proper sized turbo, and a good tuner..

And dont worry about the boost level..Worry about the hp level..I would say the stock ZC is good for under 250hp safely..After that you should think about aftermarket rods/pistons..

Who ever told you to build your block for 8 psi is smoking crack! i have mine at ( psi with Turbo edit and it loves it. PLus my pistons are from a 89 teg and no the "JDM" ones. Its s long story but my OG pistons and rods were stolen when i was in the process of rebuilding my bottom end.

If i were you i would boost it as is ( assuming the block is in good condition)

If your thinking about getting some thincker rods then check out Tuner toys, they have a decent set for aobut $235, good luck an d enjoy bossting!

BTW what kinda ECU do you currently have???

if you are going to rebuild the motor then you can just use the stock compression. And if you boost around 8psi on the stock motor, just go and get it tuned.

I wouldnt quite go to 250hp, because thats stretching it. I wouldnt go past 200, and thats with some good tuning.

8 psi should be fine like the others said just get it tuned. the t3/t4 may be alittle to big for the zc it may have to much boost lag

Yea I am looking at a t3/t4 turbo. I know where I can pull a brand new 4 core greddy intercooler for about 250. Anyone got any good hook ups for a downpipe ther than that I should be all set. I have a stock '90 ecu but it is chipped for PM7 with Mugen mapping and launch control. I could get an Apex EMS but I am not too sure I would need it. Yea one guy I know told me to take off the head and stack about 8 gaskits on there to lessen the compression to about 8.5:1 I looked at him like he was nuts! But it is a true JDM ZC Engine that I got from Japan Motor imports. It was shipped to my door for $860 and I sold my old D16A for $400 to some stupid kid. Ive got the JDM AC pump, alternator, power steering pump, stock teggie header and some other stuff if anyones looking
