18" rims on a civic
Im buying 18" for my civic, I already have 17x7 and they go right to the edge of my fender, but all I"m finding is 18x7.5 rims, does anyone else have 18x7.5 rims ON A CIVIC, i have a 93 coupe. please let me know what you think. thanks
You may want to change your original post; asking the majority of HT members about what they think about putting 18" wheels on Civic is going to be nothing short of hell. But you are going to be looking to have some issues with such a wide wheel and tucking the wheel in the fender wall if the car is dropped and having it look right.
Yea, i use to have them, but i got rid of them. I'd rather have smaller ones....15's...16's. just what i like though. plus the whole ideal or it making the rotational mass greater....therefor losing power to the ground. just something to keep in mind. i think stock tires are at 22. something inches? with tire.
Edit: to what the guy before me said....mine wasn't dropped at the time. that was back in like 2001. so i dont know how it will be if its dropped.

No kidding, they will cause nothing but problems for you.
Just stick with the 17's... those are ballin-enough for a civic right?

get 22's y0!
heh. You'll be fine with 18's although I don't recomend it. Try and get a really low profile tire ( 35 ) and make sure they're light. Mind you your tach will not show the right speed.

Your tachometer doesn't read or show your speed...
As for the original posters question... Rim size choice depends on what you plan to use the car for... i personally have a set of 18's on my 2004 Coupe but only because i am not racing it ever and just want the wheel wells filled with rim... if you plan on drag racing,or auto-x... 18's are a horrible choice...

Dont get the 18's, too big for a civic. It might rub.
Stick with your 17"s if you want big rims, if not get some 16" wheels for better performance

Dont forget to get a roof scoop to cool down your rear mounted engine and a 3' wing to keep your rear end planted firmly on the ground when driving over 150 mph.
What do we think? Its stupid, thats what.
