Default Intake resonator removal. Good or bad?

This question is for those who has taken apart the 92-95 civic + 93-97 del sol air box system. I have a b16 motor and I just recently removed the resonator from my stock air box system. After removing the resonator, there appears to be an extra inlet for air in the wheel well area. So I'm thinking, great, now I have 2 inlets for air instead of just the stock one which is sucking hot air from the engine bay. I also have a k&n replacement drop filter. My silly question is, I'm I making any power or I'm I even loosing power? Thanks guys.

You're still sucking air in from the mouth of the stock intake. You may have gained a few hp, but you've probably just making a lot more noise.

I'm with t0p_shotta on this one. You're making more noise which makes your head think "great, more power".
By sucking in cooler air you MIGHT be getting 1 or 2 extra HP, IF THAT.

its a resonator.. it just keeps it quiet while drawing air into your intake manifold
doesn't hurt anything, except that your "drop in" filter will probably get dirty faster

read an article about those intake resonators, on some engines power and torque is actually lost when the resonator is removed. dunno if this applies to honda's though

It cannot possibly apply to Honda's because they make no torque

There is an article hanging around in regards to an integra GSR loosing HP when removing the resonator. The civic and the gsr have different intake systems. That was why I created another post

Well for one, the 92-95 civic normally breaths from the inside of the engine bay. If you take the resonator & looping pipe off (total bitch to get the hidden bolt), it will now be breathing from inside the bumper. Personaly I like the "cool air" Idea better. The nice intake sound is a plus, but I'm sure there arn't any real gains to be had. If your motor was swaped, or modded, I'm sure it would make a bigger difference though.
