im gonna take care of it tomorrow. if i get this patched up (thats if i can get it patched up considering its near the sidewall), does this mean i will lose my speed rating on the tire?

What about a true patch and not a plug? If it is between the tread, I don't see why this wouldn't work. On the sidewall though, I probably wouldn't chance it.
a lot of places will not patch that or plug it because it is so close to the sidewall, i know where i work we wont because of liablitly, if the tire was brand new we might be nice and use a combo...which is a patch with a plug, very nifty...

yea...but what about speed rating?
I've done over 110 in my CRX ... WITH a screw still in the tread!
Didn't see it till I arrived at my destination (didn't see the deer that my passenger asked me about, either).
I wouldn't expect it to be a problem, ... honestly!
Are those V rated tires?
If so their speed rating is for something like ~145 MPH +/-
You should be fine.
