Questions on 2000 S2k
I'm looking for a new daily driver, I currently have a '99 S/C Mustang Cobra Conv. with 167,000mi and I am looking new car. I have found a 2001 S2000 at a local dealership for a increbile price and just have a few questions. I've looked up reviews online but I'm interested to what everyone here has to say.
1. Is the car high maintenance? How have repair costs been?
2. Does anyone use theirs as a daily driver?
3. Does/How does the top leak (bad?)
4. Anyone drive in snow? I live in Michigan so snow is not to bad but its bad enough. How is the handling?
If anyone could answer these it would be great. Thanks.

well.....
1. it's not high maintenance... your cobra was probably a lot worse... however when something is wrong on this car it can be costly...(sometimes it's ceaper to go aftermarket)
2. i use mine as a daily driver, wasn't intended to but it bacame that way. i can't seem to put the keys down ever...
3. my top does not leak, however i have heard of some 00 and 01's getting leaks from wear and tear. (keep in mind you can get a hardtop)
4. it's a pain in the *** to drive in the snow if you have your stock SO2 tires, however if you swap out tires to some blizzaks you'll be fine.. it handles like a camp...
keep in mind the S is made for the twisties, so the handling is beyond many other cars out there...

ohhh by the way.. if you're into straight line speed and quarter mile times, you'll be dissapointed at the S comming from a cobra..... you've gotta be a really good driver and learn how to drive the S properly to make it fast..
1. No, and though its probobly not helpful much because our's is still pretty new, we've had no repair costs other than an oil change.
2. My wife drives ours daily to work, i myself could not drive it daily to work because to me its too crampt, that and i've spoiled myself with my CL-S as a daily driver...but my wife has no complaints, other than the shitty stock radio and cold weather preventing her from dropping the top.
3. If you take your S2000 through one of those touchless car washes i've read/heard they will drip water all over you while its being cleaned, other than that, as far as rain goes and things of that nature, not one drop since we've had ours.
4. Nope...georgia doesnt get snow, we get this mush that mixes rain, mud, road grime and whatever else it can collect on the side of the road, and its usually gone by 9am IF it ever happens. Rain driving is fine...if you give it too much throttle, like any spirited FR platform car, its going to send you spinning but we've yet to have that happen, it's gotten squirrely a few times but nothing more...
...I also have to agree that this car is like 2 cars in one, under 5Krpm's its like half asleep, you can cruise around no problem, lack of torque makes some people feel negative about it, 6K and up though, the car wakes up in a big way...so yeah, its fun and i recommend them to anyone to own, but i dont know that i could say i feel its a good daily driver, thats just my opinion though.

Mine's a 2000. Bought it for my days off (tues, weds). Now I find myself picking it up, sometimes on sunday night and not returning until friday (I keep it covered in my sister's barn; I live in kentucky). It doesn't leak, the only problem was that I had to have the headlights adjusted ($16.00) and I'm using redline oil ($7.99/quart). And as everyone here (well, almost everyone) says, it's a Honda. I have 3 of them.
