Ive owned 2 99-00 Si's, and both give the same rattle from the trunk area. First, I thought it wasnt closing tightly enough so I "rigged" it up. Still rattles.

Second, I thought it was the bars that connect the latches to fold down the back seat, so I took them out. Nope, not it either.

That leaves me to believe its the actual trunk rods that hold it up. It rattle more over smaller bumps and dips than big bumps (I guess cause in big bumps, there are more rattles )

Anyone have similar noises and or fixes? Its annoying as hell to me.

 

check the tool bag and make sure the spare tire is tighten down simple **** gets to you fast

 

could it be the exhuast under the trunk area ? my 99 ex was doing the same ****. welded in a new mount and the sound was gone.

 

Just duct tape everything. Worked on my friends infiniti Check the taillights?

 

All the pastics and carpet are out of the trunk. No spare, toolkit or anything. Its not anything under the car I dont think. I have extensively checked that. I will check the taillights though to see if that is it. Thanks!

 

Also you can check if the rear glass is having contact with the rear vinyl piece. (the place where your rear speakers are located)

 

^ yea i was gonna say the same thing, i have the same problem because one of the clips on my rear deck broke and it rattles now
