I been looking for a good project car as of late i know what motor i wanna swap for my first honda swap. I am going with Dohc Zc but i just got one question.
My buddy swap his hatch out with a zc and the guy asked him if he wanted a Brown top or black top. Just wanted to know since i havent seen much if anything about brown tops what is the diffrence exactly. I mean is it just a Color or is it something else. Idk any info would be kool

 

you DONT want the brown top zc....correct me if im wrong but its an older version of the zc and sometimes they are carbed and not fuel injected.

my mom said it best when we were talking about ZC swaps, "don't go down on brown".

Yeah, definately black top. I beleive the brown top is an integra engine and would fit in the 1st gen crx.

 

black, if it hasn't been said enough times already

 

just make sure you get "black top" for 88-91 CRX/Civic

there is a "black top" from 88-89 Integra (like "brown top" but has electronic ignition advance)

there is also "black top" OBD1 that fits 92-95 Civic
