HPDE equipment legality question - window visors
I don't know what they're called, but I'm asking about the window visor things installed above the side windows. They're factory pieces and seem to be mounted pretty securely, unlike the cheap ones which are just taped on.
I don't think they're going anywhere, but if you think I should remove them I'd rather do it at home than at the track. I'm not really attached to them anyway, they came with the car and I haven't felt like trying to remove/sell them.

If they're screwed on, then they pass. If taped or just held on by friction, then no go. That's what I'd say unofficially.
generally, if they arent the cheap auto-zoo kind that just use some busted *** sticky tape then i let them fly. but if you can remove them at home before going to the track... so i dont have to see them in the tech shed or your instructor wont have to see them on grid... that seems best.
makes me wonder about the jackasses that use painters tape to tape their video camera on the outside of their car on their side mirrors at HPDE's....can't believe people get out on the track like that sometimes.
the best i've seen yet was the first HYPERFEST at Beaverun... a 99 Si COMPLETELY gutted... dash and all... there was just seats, seatbelts and a steering wheel in the damn car.... he was using some 3M thich double sided sticky tape to hold this HUGE wing on the back of the car... he said it held up on the highway, so it should hold up on the track... he got on track after he ripped the sticky tape off the car along with that God aweful wing.

Good question here. I just recieved the jdm/honda model of the visors as a birthday gift. The ones you have to pull molding back and insert them into the doors frame. No AC on the car makes for foggy driving in the rain... these should help alot.
But... I'd prefer to not have to remove them everytime I goto the track... the weatherstripping isn't the most fun to mess with alot.

I'm with splitime. The visors are a pain to remove/install since the visors are clipped in behind the door seals. In a nut shell, they wont fly off.

i was just saying that IF they are the higher quality models i dont have a issue with them going out on track... BUT there are some that attach much eaiser and are MUCH less secure. if they are secure then dont worry about it... if you have any doubts... take them off before you get to the track
