Problem with my bike... Please see if you can HELP!
Alright heres the run down... I was at my computer and glanced out the window and saw a car pulling in my drive way so naturally i walked outside to see who the **** it was. Well come to find out it was a deaf couple looking for the water company just below my house and obviously instead of telling them where it was i just wrote down follow me on my bike. Well, i hopped on my bike and gave it a little gas to warm up a bit but it sounded a little choppy but i went on about my business. Got to the water company w/ the couple and the damn thing dies. So now im guessing ive fouled my plugs. Well ive cleaned my plugs and now it starts and idles fine but the damn thing sounds like its getting WAY too much gas. But keep in mind just yesterday it was running like a charm. No problems what so ever. Ive got a 96 900RR and its about 65 degrees out (very comfortable). Please tell me what you think it is!
Cliffs: Deaf couple pull up and i try to be a good citizen and get fucked by my own bike. Runs, idles fine but wont rev past 2K w/o bogging down and need some help before i pull my hair out.
Thanks

Problem with the floaters perhaps? I think that would cause the opposite effect though, not able to idle, but runs better at high rpms.
Start it up, give it some revs, then smell the exhaust for just how much extra gas it might be getting.

if it was the floats the float bowl would be overflowing. First try some carb cleaner from ur local Honda dealer...it comes in an aerosol can. Spray it into the intake and that should help a little. Even if it doesn't work it's only cost ya about 5 bucks. Do you smell gas at all when the bike is running?

jsut the exhaust gas fumes..lol.. but seriously ill try the carb cleaner... i took my tank off and blew my lines w/ air just to make sure there wasnt any trash in the lines its still running the same. Ill try the carb cleaner and see if it works.
Any more suggestions?

Have you changed your air filter? or maybe there's some crap in the air pipes or blocking the intake. Sounds like the bike just isn't getting air...maybe the choke butterfly is stuck closed over, possibly a broken cable?

If it runs at idle and dies at higher RPM that sounds to me like it's not getting enough gas or air. I'd check the fuel lines/filter and air box to make sure all is clear.
If it was running fine yesterday it sounds likely it is a fuel or ignition issue. Maybe a jet has worked loose, or maybe a jet is blocked. I would say its 'petrical' not 'electrical', take the tank off and get to work.
i took my carbs off and cleaned the jets out real good last nite and put some new 93 octane in it and now it runs like a charm...... thanks for all the help
I HAVE A 900RR, remove the tank first off. your float bowls will have some gas still in them. next remove the air box and inspect maybe you got a bird in it... start the bike and watch the needle valve thingy keep in mind that with the air box off the bike runs VERRRRRRRY lean. before you run out of gas rev the bike to 2500 rpms and see if the needle valves are all opening the same and when at idle, they should be all the way in the down position.
As for the carb cleaner? carb cleaner is carb cleaner you can buy a can at Kmart for <$2

thanks for the advice but if already took my carbs all the way off and cleaned the jets out. I cleaned them when i put my jet kit in but you never know... you can always get a little bit of trash in there and that could cause it. But i cleaned the carbs and put some new 93 in it, like i stated above, and it runs perfect.. until nitrous kicks in..lol Thanks anyways tho man

What doyou want to know... mines a 96 .... same motor/tran as yours just different fairing styling and a few other things that most people wouldnt recognize like: Gauges, wiring harness, wheels are same but 93-97 are 16" and 98-99 are 17"... a few other minor things but over all the same. i started out w/ a little 30 shot and got addicted... I had a nitrous in my hatch about 3 yrs ago and just got crazy w/ it after then... never really been a big F.I. fan but have rode in some pretty decent turbo cars but bikes have just always been my love. If you have some ***** and are actually THINKING about it just make sure you do it the RIGHT way, not... " yo homie lets throw some nitrous on this bitch w/ no fuel and watch out pistons melt"..lol.. ya know what i mean? If you want to talk a little more in depth just holler at me on AOL.
