i dont think that will work because then the muffler would be move forward and the exhaust hangers wont line up...if anything he should cut and weld the tip to how he likes it...

thats what i want to do... quoted Wes V:

I was trying to get a "stock" look and the pipe at the tips is 1 3/4" diameter. The combined cross-sectional area is larger than the 2 1/4" diameter main pipe.

The chrome tip cover fits snugly over the pipe, not loose as is stock. As a result, it looks totally stock but flows a lot more than a normal SI would.

Im running the same exhaust on a boosted ZC, love the sound, not to crazy at all. I just dont care for the tip much. Im also looking to get a small dual tip welded on but havent found any yet
Nice buy

theres alot of play in the rubber hangers. It works, trust me, i had to do it and i didnt want to cut up my nice blingin exhaust. theres probably around 1-2 of play in those hangers, say you take out an 1 1/2 inch, that sits you at about 2inches if the exhaust is over hung by 3 1/2 inches. Something is pushing his exhaust back out further, whether its a different header thats a little bit longer, or an aftermarket cat, something. But i would go cutting up the exhaust first thing. Id try it out in places that are chaeper to replace if they get fucked up.
And if you do, have a good TIG welder do it so it doesnt look like trash and use SS rod on that SS pipe coming out so it doesnt rust, dont contaminate it either by cleaning the welds with a carbon steel wire brush.

hmm i wouldnt know other then what my homie did. He came up on an old, messed up HKS muffler. The usual thing thats wrong w/ old mufflers is they either have a hole in them or theyre all banged up from being too low...So lucky him he found one w/ a hole in it that some1 was gonna throw away and salvaged the tips
I have seen some HKS mufflers w/ aight tips on them just get thrown away at my muffler shop, Eastside Muffler...
