Default 6 x 9' speakers in 1993 Accord....possible??

Is it possible to put 6*9 speakers in a 1993 Accord LX sedan?? If so how hard is it? Does it require a lot of drilling and such, im doing this myself, and my dad has a body shop with all the tools necessary....thanks for your input....

Yeah it can be done, you're going to have to do some cutting, they were going to do that for my 96 Accord, but I decided against that, I can't remember why though......

I'm assuming you mean rear speakers..

Your rear deck cutouts support a 5 1/2" speaker..

It is possible but will you will have to cut out the rear deck frame to make the speakers flush on the rear deck panel..

Some 6x9's come with a "spacer" that will lift the speaker up to fit in that 5 1/2" hole.. the speaker will not be flush with the rear deck ,but is a whole lot easier than cutting away the deck frame...

buy a Dremel tool and extra cutting wheels, and begin slicing and dicing... it can be time consuming on some cars, but for the back of an Accord, it's a piece of cake... also, be sure to put a protective cloth over the rear dash so the sparks won't burn the rear dash material...

6x9's were a dealer option in 93 accords, mine came from the factory with the 6.5" rear speakers, a couple of yrs ago my local dealership told me they had a pair of 6x9 factory pods that they sold me cheap to get rid of them... They look identical from the outside to the 6.5" pods...

I have a 93 EX and I think all you need is the new grill/basket assembly, the basket sorta holds the speaker up a bit so the Kenwoods I have fit in but I did have to "modify" the springs, I installed a honda Spoiler and it came with new stronger springs but they were slightly longer than the old ones... other than that you should have no problem. Also not sure about the front speakers but I found out that in an EX they are 4 inch speakers, but if you have a DX they are 6.5 and the only difference is the 4 inchers have this big plastic enclosure, and the 6.5's just have a little basket, so I got the basket and got some 6.5's in the doors, HUGE difference.

i put 6x9's in my 91 with absolutely no problem...they fit right in.

now, getting 6.5's into the doors was a whole other story, and a painfully annoying one at that. but all is well that ends well
