need help what do i need for zc swap?
A good set of hand tools, a floor jack, jack stands, engine hoist, an oil catch of some sort, a manual (factory if possible), and a little blood, sweat, and hopefully no tears.
if your hatch is Si, it will just bolt right in, use your engine harness and everything connects right up - if your hatch is not Si, then you will need to do the DPFI to MPFI wiring changes to your harness, get Si ECU and then everything will bolt right in and wiring will connect right up
What trim do you have. (gona do a quick write here I have class in morning need sleep. always willing to help out a fellow h-t member)
If your car is std hatchback, and you wish to get a new transmission (highly recommended, do it right the first time) then you need to upgrade your hubs to either SI or Integra hubs, to accomodate the ZC axles (which are 90-93 teg axles btw. same size.) Now, the ECU. If you have DX or STD, you need a new ECU to accomodate the 2 new injectors, and must wire up the MPFI. SI ecu isn't the best, but it gets the job done well enough. Now, if you have an SI, keep that tranny and save yourself the work. The gearing is actually good for the ZC motor. Friend of mine has dohc ZC + SI tranny + SI ecu, and it hauls. It will get the job done for a tuner on a budget.
http://www.Hmotorsonline.com has everything mechanical you need (not sure bout the wiring) and all my stuff as of friday morning will be on a truck and on its way here. I ordered: DOHC ZC engine, 5spd tranny, 2 axles, and an intermediate shaft. ECU was out of stock; I will be getting that elsewhere. Bolts right in, no mounts needed, and stock linkage works, etc. Good luck.
Should you choose, call Steve at Hmotors, tell him you were referred by H-t (always good in case of a discount) and talk to him about the things you need. The site doesnt list the axles, int shaft, etc but they do have them. Mine was backordered for a week but they do carry them. Customer service is excellent there.
