Default CF hood pix inside

We put the hood on yoshi's new track only front end. (JDM fronts bah! )

Carbon fiber re-enforced hood latch

CF re-enforced hood hindge mounts

JDM hood (anybody near Torrance want to volunteer to test fit on their car?)

Extended bonus remix

- The JDM hood is ready for sale
- The USDM hood will be ready for sale in Feb (the above prototype hood will be at next weekend's dyno day. The actual production hood won't be ready till Feb b/c a whole new mold is being made for it for better fitment.)

- I know you guys have been anxiously waiting, but please be patient as quality takes time.

Also can I get a show of hands of how many people will buy these for sure at the 375 +shipping price. This is a one time only deal, so the manufacturer would like to know about how many to make.

Disclaimer:
I make no money from these hoods. The manufacturer agreed to make these after I told that there was a lot of interest in CF hoods.

I'm down as long as these things don't fly off on the freeway without hoodpins. Fit looks decent. A bit short on the front though. Overall I like it. Will I have to pay tax since I'm in Cali?

559:
you can keep it if you like it and pay for it

B2:
the hood looks short b/c it doesn't have the rubber weather stripping across the front. of course, this is the prototype so the production hood will be better

That looks great. So, if we do not buy now, we will never be able to get these again?

dang, I go away for 20min and j00 posted my secret front end

anyways, back to the topic.

- since the hood was sitting in robert's garage we put in my car to show j00 f00z. as B2 pointed out, the hood is slightly short in front, but it looks that way mostly b/c there is no weather strippping on it. This hood is already just as good (if not better) than the other CF hoods I've seen locally on other ITRs.

- robert mentioned this above, but who (w/ a JDM front end) can help out and test fit this on their car?

yoshi - who'd like to keep this hood, but I think it's going to be scrapped

[edit]flux, I was told that the hoods will most likely go to 500+ if they make another batch of hoods, since this is not their main source of business[/edit]

they're not sure how to ship these yet, since they wouldn't want you to receive it damaged. I'll try to find out more info asap.

as far as hood pins, these hoods will not need them b/c of the the CF re-enforcements.

How does the hood fit? I know from experience that the Fiber Image hood doesn't fit well. It was short and the hood didn't fill the fender sides also.

A bit short on the front though.
xjohnx once pointed out to me that the front of the hood on an '00 ITR is shorter than that of an '01 ITR. The pic of the CF hood above, the length looks exactly like my OEM metal '00 hood.

ITR607, Can you share any of the construction details of this hood?:

How many layers & weight of carbon fiber?

What weave type are the underlying layers?

Is fiberglass used for underlying layers, if so how many layers/type/weight?

Is it vacuum bagged?

Is it oven cured?

Is the sub-frame metal or FRC?

Is it clear coated?

Is it polyester or epoxy resin?

How much does it weigh?

Thanks!
Chris

Weight of the CF hood. How much does the OEM hood really weight? Everyone has a different answer.

I am likely in for one.

When and where are you going to dyno the car? I want to be there to see the hood in person.

That's a good idea! We have that So-Cal meet come up on 20th and we all could see the great work first hand.
