Default d16y8 head swap for 90 si rex

I've read about it, is it possible? I need better flow, and VTEC
What other mods would i need to preform to make this work as far as wiring, ecu, and that jazz.

Your comment would be greatly appriciated

When you add a Y8 head to your A6 block, you get vtec. You do not, however get better flow. The A6 head flows better than a Y8 head.

vtec is nice but it really depends on your end goal.

I did a Z6 mini-me which was great fun N/A. But now that I'm turbo'd its a lil harder to tune.

Funny, my name is Drew. cool. well, good luck with your tuning.

I want a forcrd induction setup, and Vtec would would give me more fuel, right?
But so would an ecu and injectors, i'm an idiot

I heard the Z6 head flows pretty good for sohc head and it has vtec... I dont know how the flow compares to the A6 head.

Where is your data to back this up?

If you're going to do a head swap go with y8/z6.

Stock for stock a z6 head will flow better than a y8 head due to the y8's offset intake ports. The y8 has these to induce a swirl effect in the combustion chamber helping emissions and torque.

If you want to get creative i'd say get a y8 head and some dremel bits and clean that sucker up with a little homade porting. Y8 head will yeild higher compression as well as resist detonation due to it's quench areas in combustion chamber. My head was done by Joe Alaniz and would probably match a similarly ported Z6 head as the intake offset was made less dramatic but still effective.

I don't know what your budget/goals are but i speak from experience. I just tuned my y8 setup and made 143whp and 112wtq on pump gas on Jeff Evans Dynapack setup. This translates to ~160whp/125wtq on a dynojet going by the way Jeff Evan's dynapack reads in relation to other cars compared on both dyno's.

Note: dynapacks can read higher/lower than dynojets depending on how operator sets peramiters/sensors, however they are a superior tuning dyno producing very consistant numbers as opposed to dynojets.

Vince</TD></TR></TABLE> agentjam knows his stuff , i will one day have something close to his set-up with the sohc.
