CRX starts but doesn't want to stay on.
Thanks for any help in advance.
My CRX has been sitting in my garage for about a month and I went to fire it up but it wouldn't even crank so I figured it might be the battery. So I jumped it and it ran fine but it after a 30 min drive I shut it off and tried to fire it up but got nothing. So I had to ask someone for another jump.
Anyways I replaced the battery and went to fire it up. Everything was great when I put the key in the on position then I turn to start it and it fires up but once I let go of the key to go back in the on position it automatically turns off?!!! I do this a few times and it won't stay on. The only time the engine runs is when I hold the key in the ignition position. WTH???
I check my plugs and my distributor and they were all fine.
Could it be my alternator? Do I have a short? Any suggestion or feedback is greatly aprreciated.
Thanks

I just had this happen to me. Here's what I did (with the help of some good folks who knew better than me)
First, try turning the key to the "on" and letting it sit for 5 seconds. Then turn it to the "start". There's a strong possibility that it will start, and it will get you by so you can get some parts you need. What this does is allows the system to "prime" with fuel.
Now with the car off, open the boot and hang your nose over the fuel rail... do you smell fuel? Then read on. Otherwise, this post may be worthless.
If you smell fuel, get yourself some injector O-rings. They are cheap at the honda place....like $5-$10 for all four. If you wanna be thorough about replacing the injector rubber (and spend some extra money) get the seals and seats too and it should total up to about $50-$60.
Since you're going to be in there, go by the parts place and grab a fuel filter, some carb cleaning spray, and some wire brushes.
Now get out the socket set and the free manual pages you download here:
http://www.honda.co.uk/owner/CRXManual/index.html
then replace the fuel filter and the injector O-rings. This will take a few hours if you thoroughly clean stuff out as you go, but its not really difficult at all...definitely too easy to pay someone to do.
After its all back together, the first start will be rough, so do the "priming" thing. After that it should be like new.

Thanks Fireant for the the warm welcome and especially the advice. I'll definitely try it when this weather lets up here.
Hmmm.... Let's see. Car only stays running with key in the "ignition" position, which I'll assume means "start".
My first guess would be the ignition switch itself. Your other no-start symptoms are consistant with a bad battery, which you replaced.
