Another BAR'ed CRX has been born.
Well fellas, I have gotten my BAR certification for my CRX! I am so happy, I almost had an ulcer while there waiting for it. Especially because of the fact that the car before me failed.
I bought a Civic DX intake box, but without the resonator stuff, which was then attached to the DA Integra tube. The refs never said anything about it either so I guess it was good enough.
I went to the station at Los Positas College in Livermore. They were pretty polite dudes and the guy knew a lot about Honda engines. Surprise, surprise eh? So if there is anyone in that area, there is this place.
I'd like to thank everyone who helped point me in the right direction, this includes:

I'm glad I got this taken care of! I admit I was scared because my CEL light had come on before for the MAP sensor. But it was not a constant thing, it would just appear once a month or so and then go away.

let me be the first one to say grats bro! now watch out where u live cause u know how mine got stolen a few blocks away from your house! right now im in the processof swappin motors, maybe when im done we can meet up!
Hey whats up Gabe? Yeah I'm extremely happy that this is finally done. My CRX stays in the garage at all times, unless I am washing it. When you swap motors, I may be able to lend a hand or help you get it BAR'ed if you need, so we can meet up.
BTW, here is a site you may be interested in, I am on this board as well. It is a NorCal CRX club forum.

no, its something only california has...BAR = PIA, BUT! you can swap a gsr motor in to your car (as above ) and get it legally certified as a 1.8L honda crx. so popo is a no no when they pop ur hood and see the cert. sticker, they cant bust you for having a swap because it is legal, unless you have some crazy *** looking header or 'illegal' turbo I.E. not greddy or smog legal turbo

4drEF,
what engine are you BAR'ing?
Just make sure you have all your stuff hooked up right, and be professional/courteous when you go in. They like seeing people who are there to do it right the first time, and who arent sent in with a ticket from a cop.

I'm going to try to BAR my 91 sedan.
It's got a Z6 motor... kind of.
It's got a Y8 head on it with Y8 manifold. I am using all the Z6 sensors including the EVAP solenoid and IAT mounted to the manifold in the Z6 locations.
Hopefully they don't check too hard into that?
I also have the stock Z6 intake tube and box.
Think it will fly like that?
I don't know how hard they look at the block/head numbers.
If they really only look at the block number then I think I'm ok.

I have to go through that process sometime this year... probably around summer time.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Well there were a couple things I did.
I made sure my vaccum lines were installed correctly. I also used OEM type, not any colorful silicon-type
, just for fear of it not passing the visual for some odd reason.
Did little things, like actually clamping down my battery after several months of it being attached to my CRX by only the power cables.
I reset my ECU.
I bought a new cat, but mine was 10 years old anyway, so it probably needed to be done. Especially because I used racing gas before. It was probably toast.
Fixed my one exhaust leak (speed bump owned me) that I had.
I just tried to make the engine bay look as stock as possible. I even left the intake box dusty so that it looked like it has seen some good use.
I provided the ref with the engine's VIN's and my registration before he even asked. Just trying to earn a brownie point I guess.
I pulled the carpet and ECU out for him beforehand (not unplugged though) so he could inspect it and confrm that it was in fact the correct one for my CRX. He did end up checking the ECU too.
The oil was also changed a couple days ago. Make sure the fluids are all ok, otherwise they will not test the car out of fear of damaging it while on the dyno. <-- That is what they told me.
* There may be more but I just drank 2 redbulls so my attention span isn't too great right now. Time to play some Counter Strike before my night classes! LOL
Ok, back to the BAR stuff. I don't know about other places, but this guy knew quite a bit about Honda engines. So there wasn't any chance of fooling this guy, it wasn't even worth trying. Basically I just spent the money where it was needed to get it to pass (the cat, air box, and vacuum lines for example), which was not as bad as I thought it would be. I almost worried myself sick at the thought of not being able to drive my CRX because of it not passing for some reason.

When I went, I didnt see them check any numbers. He asked me what year it was, and I told him it was a 95 GSR.
I passed using a 90 teg LS exhaust manifold with the o2 sensor up close to the head (non-heated style), but i was still running a 4-wire obd1 o2. They let me pass on that.
I also was using a 90 teg LS intake arm (had these two little nipples for vacuum lines on the obd0 setups) I just routed them together with a piece of vacuum hose, and the ref told me I did a good job closing them off! haha. I thought for sure I'd fail on that.
They're all different, but most are pretty cool guys, and want you to pass. Plus, you get a second try for free.
Anyways, good luck when the time comes around!

Awesome - I have everythign vacuumed correctly and all that. Just reading posts from other people that failed makes me nervous.
I'll try to run it at a smog shop first to make sure I hit the right tailpipe numbers before I even consider BAR.
No point in going there with a bad cat or something and that be what fails me.

God dude i am so nervous i don't even know where to begin with the Bar stuff. I know a little bit....But i know i'm still not passing right now......I got a b16a in a 90 hf. I have no idea if that means they'll be stricter with me....
So anything.......would be good..
