Default weird clunking sound from rear passenger side...

So when i go slow, like riding in a parking lot or making a slow turn, where there are very small undulations in the road, I get a very audible clunk sound from the passenger side rear of my car. It does not do it when going faster at all. Not even when I hit big dips or bumps on a freeway. I can't figure it out. I thought it may be my muffler on exhaust pipes knocking against the body of the car, but I don't think it is. I check the clearance of my rear sway and endlinks, and it seems to be fine. I have Omni Power street coilovers, BTW. I never had this noise with my old Ground Controls and illuminas. Anyone else have this noise with omni powers?

make sure the springs are in place properly first. Spring may be popping in and out of it's place.

Have you done a visual inspection of all of the suspension and bolts yet?

The springs should be in place. I preloaded all the coilovers when I installed them so I know the spring does not move at all. From what I have seen so far, all bolts and bars and etc... look ok.

it seems to do it right when the car starts moving after it has rested for a couple hours. Once it gets rolling for about a minute, it stops. Im baffled.

Check the rear right shock, it might be blown, look for oil build up on it. My old car did it after a while when i was rollin on tokiko blues

I disconnected the endlink on that side and the sound still remains. Could it be the trailing arm bushing? Anyone have any ideas?

Could it be that my 3 month old omni power coilover blew? Its not like its slammed. There is still a ton of threading left to lower it. The sound kinda sounds like its a knocking and sometimes like two hard surfaces hitting/rubbing each other. I check and couldnt find any wear or rub marks. I really dont want to believe that my coilover blew. Any omni power ppl here experience anything like this?

i too have the same problem, but mine does it from both sides exactly as you described, and it happened after i lowered it with Nex Coilovers. I too disconected the endlinks and it still did it, and it does seem to only do it after it sat for a while, or if i'm going slow over uneven surfaces.
I searched the boards and think that its either the Lower Control Arm Bushings or like you posted Trailing arm bushings. i scored the comptech 22mm sway/tie setup from a HT member, and Megan Lca's from a clubcivic member. I didn't trust the Megan bushings so i bought the Prothane LCA bushings for $50.
RIGHT NOW i am trying to find someone with a press to Press in the new Prothane bushings into the LCA's. I was able to burn/hammer the old bushings out, but don't want to destroy the new ones. Hopefully i will get everything done this weekend and will update this post. If its not that then onto the Trailing arm bushings...

Im really starting to think the damper has blown. I can feel the knock through the shock tower metal if i put my hand on it and compress the rear with my other hand. I went over my rear suspension today and saw no visible wear marks anywhere that would indicate rubbing issues. Please keep us informed sidesi!

after I did my rear disc conversios my driver side trailing arm loosened slightly from the body. you might check that if you have done the conversion also.

I didnt do any brake conversions but I will check to see if those bolts on the trailing arm are loose.

also, would tightening any bolts on there mess with the wheel alignment?

if they are loose then your already out of alignment most likely. ifthey arent loose then nothing will change by tightening them.

All my bolts are tight. I PMed Kteller8 about it and he said make sure the lower lock collar is real tight. Tight like hitting it with a hammer and screwdriver tight. I really doubt its this tho cause I dont see how that would make a noise like it does. The only thing left that I can think of is the strut somehow blew or got messed up within the 3 months I had it.

Any updates on those bushings yet, sidesi?

alldata.com lists a TSB that might be relevant:

TSB Number Issue Date TSB Title
00-006 DEC 01 Suspension - Rear Suspension Clunk/Squeak Noise

Maybe someone that works at Honda can check to see what this TSB says.

My right rear makes a clunking sound when I am braking a few seconds before I come to a stop. I have can't find anything visually either

I believe he is referring to omnipower coil-overs. There are two threaded collars that you tighten together to hold the spring at the desired height.

Actually, it's the very bottom collar. There are two collars that the spring sits on and there is one collar at the very bottom of the threading. Make sure to see if that one is tight. BTW, I checked this and it was tight. I noticed the sound comes from the top of the coilover, like where it mounts to the shock tower. Back to the drawing board i guess.

For a while I thought that may be just that little board that covers the bottom of the trunk just bouncing along with the car. Is anyone driving around with a bare trunk and still have this noise? Just trying to cover all corners
