Rebuilding my b16 or buying a good condition short block?

It would probably cheaper and easier buying a shortblock but rebuilding your motor will give you a fresh engine. It may be more expensive depending on how much you build the engine and it will be more difficult than just swapping shortblocks. IMO however, I feel rebuilding would be more satisfying and worthwhile than just swapping in a shortblock.

Yeah, I think all I need to do is replace the rings. Hopefully, but will not know til I pull it apart.

You buy a good condition b-16, and rebuild the old one.

At that point, you'd have two b16s... one in like-new condition that you can keep till you need it, or sell immediately for more $ than the "good" one cost.

The other in "good" condition to rebuild later or sell immediately so you can swap in your rebuilt one.

Obviously this would be cheapest in the long run, but more difficult!
