Default trip packing list

well I am in the final stages of planning a trip from KC,MO to eureka springs, AR in april.

it should be a 5 hour trip down and 5 back with 2 days down there.

I have never gone on a long trip so if you have suggestions about what to bring, i would appreciate it. I don't want to bring so much that it is cumbersome, but i don't want to leave out somethign crucial

Keep in mind i have an f2 and i am going to buy a tank bag for it and don't plan on carrying a backpack.

my list:
1. tire repair kit
2. small tool kit (i don't have the factory one)
3. compact rain gear
4. clothes
5. toothbrush/ bathstuff
6. mp3 player

anything else?

I'm always over prepared for anything... I'd add>

7. Knife
8. Good tire pressure gauge
9. Flashlight
10. Flares/Whistle
11. Maps

Wait-a-minute... 5 hours?!? That's it?

Yeah, for a 5 hour trip, I wouldn't worry too much about carrying gear.

I would set aside 50-100 bucks so that you can purchase anything you need on the way, though.

I would also be sure to take an extra shield, in case you get rocked in the face, and get some static tint stuff from Autozone, make tinted tear aways (sorta) for your shields.

Depends where the wind hits you with your stock screen. People usually like it to either go over the helmet or hit them in the chest. Depending on your riding position the double might direct the wind right into your face which sucks ***.

So why did you say he doesn't need one unless he is a bigger guy or going really fast?

Ear plugs, camelback.

I've read of people takin older socks and underwear on these trips that they just throw away after they've worn wm - less to take back.

i was hoping the MP3 player woudl suffice for ear plugs, and as far the double bubble, I think i will hold off, I am 6'1" and 175 so fairly thin, kinda tall. I have a feeling the wind would be pushed into my face even more.

oh and as for throwing away the laundry, I might now go that far, but i have heard of people sending clothes to a hotel before they get there so they don't have to pack it and send it back when they are done.

MP3 player may not completely drown out the road noise. If you haven't tried your mp3 player for extended periods on the highway, bring earplugs along just in case.

I wouldn't go that far, unless you're going to a wedding or something, and you need a tux/nice suit.

Seriously, for two days, I'm wearing two days worth of clothing right now. Jeans are wearable for at least 4, take 3 extra shirts, 3 pairs of socks. Use yesterday's overshirt for an undershirt. On the last day, wear the same thing you wore the first day. You're just riding, no one cares what you're wearing that day. Don't take another jacket, just use your riding jacket.

Condoms... you never know.

Whats the purpose for the trip? Just a nice long ride? I would just bring extra socks and under wear.

Use a tank bag, not a back pack.

at speed, backpacks tend to become like parachutes - wears on ya real quick too.

Gold Bond.

I little splash down the shorts before you take off and you will be riding on a cloud, nothing else will even matter.
