Fork oil level?/Leak?
My friend just got his first bike, 97' GSXR600. we drove 3 hours each way to pick it up. when we got back home i noticed oil on the rim coming from the fork seals or what ever they are called(black seals on the out side of the fork with metal spring/rubber band looking thing around it). the oil on leaked then the bike was in the truck with the forks compressed pretty good. could this be because the seal is bad? what about the oil level? how do you check oil level?
yup.... if your pissing outta your fork legs, the seals are bad.
from the sounds of how bad they are leaking, he's gonna need new front brake pads too, once that oil leaks down into the pads they are ruined.
if you take the bike to a shop it should cost around $150 w/ new seals to have them do it

Seals are a piece of cake to do, go get a manual and do it yourself.
