is this a legit APC short shift?
APC scares me for some reason... Maybe its all that useless **** they have in the front of the Checker Auto parts store. Maybe its that half the **** involves neon glowing lights. Maybe its just that I don't trust a rice company to make parts that involve the actual mechanical thoroughput of my car. Iono.
Skunk2 is reputable. Go with that

I am taking back everything that I said here. Lemme explain why.
This week my car has been having bad luck. First my heater fan blows a bearing, then my muffler falls off, and now today the best part happens. On my way home from work, I'm on the highway doing 55, and going into 3rd MY SHIFTER BREAKS OFF IN MY HAND. Right at the little ball joint that meets with the car. Scared the **** outta me. The weld had broken in half, and with the last thrust I got (I threw it in the other direction which finally broke the whole thing off) I managed to get it in 2nd so I was able to limp back to a friends house, who happens to be an aspiring mechanic and we have done all of our repairs there, and that is where my car sits now.
Upon further examination, I never had a real short throw. The previous owner had done a hack weld job, cut the shifter in half, and welded metal AROUND the joint at the bottom (did not solder the actual metal together.) It's a fairly clean cut, and Ill post pics later.
As our van is in the shop after an accident at the ski hill, I need a car to drive. I had to un-hibernate my car when the accident happened and had to drive that around. Got new tires from Les Schwab and all. I checked all the auto parts stores in town, and they only do trucks. So they had shifters that were like 5 feet tall, and I was like no. So I go to the last resort place: Checkers.
The only shifter they had was the APC short shift (the regular size one) for $45. I had no choice but to pick that one, as I need that car to go to school and work. I luckilly am going to get to drive my dad's car tomorrow, and my buddy is putting the shifter in for me, because he doesn't go to school (independent study).
I will tell you all how it goes. It looks like a fairly sturdy product, much thicker than the original. Hopefully this will dispell my misconceptions about APC.

i beg to differ...im a strong guy and anyone whos knows me would vouch for that, and i have had my apc shifter its a dual bend btw in since august and yet have i broke it...and i can yank gears almost just as good as anyone, so until mine breaks in my hand, i will stand for an APC short throw

I was thinking more along the lines of American Piece of Crap. Btw that **** is manufactured in Taiwan. So much for American Parts Company.
I don't care its gota last me like two weeks and then I'll order a skunk2 short throw. Then I'll go and sell it to some other poor unfortunate soul. I just need a daily driver right now and it was the only thing in stock in this god forsaken town.

i would go with S2, i have a dual bend and i love it cause i'm 6'5 and i can sit back as far as i want and not have to hunch forward to grab a gear. and as for superman with the APC short throw, if you haven't broke it yet your not as strong as you think. cause i broke one that was fresh outta the box in some poor kids civic.
