Default Building an EG shell from the ground up: When enough is enough?

This is more like a philosophical question concerning people that get shells and restore them... Where do you draw the line? I mean I know that other people's garbage are some people's treasure but sometimes I am amazed.

We love our cars so much, we are blinded sometimes...

IF THE ONWER OF THIS SHELL IS READING THIS POST, BRO.. i AM NOT KNOCKING YOUR CAR.. IN FACT I CALLED YOU 6 MONTHS AGO ABOUT IT... I JUST WAS SHOWN THE SAME CAR FROM A FRIEND THAT ASKED ME IF IT IS WORTH IT...

Let me know what you guys think? My opinion is no.. not even for $400

damn, some major rust on the quater panels.
that is just way too much work. but there is always someone out there willing to do it.

if it were my cash though, i wouldn't buy it.

Only way I'd buy it is if there was no frame damage. It would be strictly a drag car, as well.

not worth it.
Just find a good running one, it would be cheaper...when it's all done.

Find something better.

not at all, I would never buy it no matter how desperate I was. Youll have to put SO much money in it just to make it run, much less look nice.

Too much work and efforts....
I would just get a $6000-7000 hatch w/ b-series already swapped and tons of jdm goodies.
I know its alot but when you consider all the money you will be putting into a stock hatch to get the level where it's at. It's worth spending $6-7k.

if it wasnt for that rust, i'd say it's worth 400

rest of the body actually looks to be in really good condition!
throw a fresh coat of paint and you've got a mint shell.

but that rust is effed.

And even aside from that,
it's the type of thing you buy after you crash your originial hatch,
then you can just swap parts over and be good to go.

I'm not sure, but I would have to say that it has come down to being a parts car, unfortunatly. That is exactly what my friend's 90 DX looks like, and it has ended its life and is a parts car (with a title loan lien of $1200 against it).

I'm sure its led a good life.

If it was being thrown away i would pick it up and start playing with it. Other then that no.

The rust on the quarter panels isn't that bad. Easily fixed without having to tear down the whole car.

The rest of it just *looks* bad. But for a track car - 400$ is doable.

Nickle and diming will be an issue however.

Is this thing a CX/VX hatch? As long as it's straight that would be perfect for somebody looking for a shell to drop a nice motor in... it's already stripped! It also has 1 si rim, that's got to be worth at least $75-$100 right there lol.

**** rust.

I ended up getting my current 92 Cx for like $300.00 after I sold out the first-gen B16A, cable-to-hydro kits, and stand-alone ECU that it came with. I bought the car for $2,500.00 when the sum of its parts was more like $4,000.00.

There are deals out there, and the biggest thing about building a ground-up restore IMO is BE PATIENT!

Had my car been rusted to **** when i drove from GA down to Ft. Lauderdale to pick it up I would have seriously turned right back around and came home rather than rebuild a rusted hatch.

No title, interior, windshield, or even a junk engine to sell.... definitely not worth it!! I bought my rolling chassis with full interior, koni yellows, and GC coiloves for $450. Plus i sold the blown D16z6 and ECU for $150. Theres definitely a better deal out there!!!

well, i believe nikos and his friend (most likely) would be buying their eg shells for their k20's
