Default KYB GR2 on 97 Civic (my review)

Before I got my shocks, one guy said "KYB=Stock." I took a chance because it's "performance shocks." Can't be that bad. After all, I took a chance with Tokico Blues (against some advise) and was happy with them.

KYB floats on every bump on the road. At times, I felt the car to be out of control without the confidence I had with Tokico. The jiggy is back.

Very disappointed. The Blues were much better, even when one of my shock was leaking.

Should have gotten Koni, like I wanted.

That's my review. My advise is save up the $$$. These shocks will have to stay with me for maybe 80K more and 5 years.

Other info: HR Sport spints on 195/55/15.

I've had GR-2's and AGX's and I was very happy with both. Granted, they were on a CRX instead of a civic, but that shouldn't make a whole lot of difference.

I've always thought that the GR2 was an OEM replacement (not a performance shock)

This is whats been said, and some people still argue about it.

The GR2 is an oem replacement, and the tokico blues are also oem replacement. If not equally the same, the quality of those lowered on those shocks will either blow them or have a bouncy ride on almost every bump, pothole, droop on the road there is. The ride quality will get worse on a lowered ride, using those shocks. If you have a normal ride height or lowered on some soft springs that dont lower much, it should be ok.

Get some adjustables.

performance shocks are not GR2...those are oem replacements..
they come stock on sentras as well as some other nissans...

agx is kyb's performance shock...but they lose warrenty after a 1.5-2 in drop

I just used the the gr-2's because of the price on them but I need some shocks anyways on my 98 coupe. I haven't had any trouble's with mine yet but they have been on for only a year.
