What is a del sol VTi?
I saw one today it said CRX and vti on it... I've never seen a vti before. I dont know if its because i never noticed them or because theyre rare cuz i dont know much about sols... What powerplant does it have in it? Do they sell it in america or is it something special?
I believe (correct me if im wrong) they are the UKDM version of the Del Sol VTEC. These were also equiped with the Automatic targa top storage. again i may be wrong and for all you del sol and honda guru's, correct me

to the thread maker and eL, they probably put the VTi stickers on their car. unless some european people really loved their honda that much to ship it over here.

Maybe but it looked slightly different. Could have just been modded. It was dark

No i know it wasn't some ricer that put a sticker on his car. It was an old 60 year old guy and he was talkign with the honda guy in the parts department talking about their "crx's" and how their projects were going. When I was inside i could see the del sol from outside and I ask him is that your del sol? he says yes.... "Is it an Si?" he says, "No... and it's not an S either." Clueless as to what the hell he's talking about i shrug it off and go outside and look at it... And notice it says Vti.... So I think he was trying to hint to me that it was a Vti...
Seriously, I dont think this 60 year old would put the stickers on there

VTi model trim is European and is equivalent to SiR model trim in Japan. Everywhere but North America, a Del Sol is called a CRX Del Sol. Basically it's a 3rd gen CRX. It comes with a B16A. A real one does come with an automatic removing targa top.

Was it LHD??? Was he from another country???
I wonder if it's a case of him moving here and bringing the car with him.
Regardless, cool story

Yeah it was just a normal left hand drive. No RHD. I looked at some pictures of VTi's online and they seem to be LHD

Not quite sure if he was from another country. He spoke good english without any accent. I'm really convinced that it was a real VTi though because him and the other honda parts manager were talking forever and it seemed like he was an avid honda fan. It looked like he was there to pick up some rubber parts in the parts deptartment... It's not every day that I see really old guys that like to work on hondas so i'm convinced that this was a Vti, not just the stickers.
Maybe one day i'll see it again and i'll ask him how he got it here.
This is kind of funny... 1 week ago I go to honda to pick up a ball joint boot and I see an 05 coupe that was electron blue w/ a newer DOHC vtec sticker on the side, and this week i go to pick up the clip for the boot and I see a VTi... I wonder what i'm gona see next time.

<< `99 Civic VTi
VTi is european trim and it means Variable Timing Ignition.
VTi`s vere produced sedan and hatch from 1992-1995 and EK4 & sedan 1996-2000. I drive a `99 3door EK4 civic.
Powerplant is B16A2, 118kw in stock. Trim includes gas shocks with a bit stiffer suspension, 15" alloys, different seats, gearshift **** and steering wheel. A/C or sunroof are extras. Don`t know about del sol`s cus they are rare in n-europe, but they also have b16a2 under the hood.
Before, from 88-92 Civic VT (Variable Timing, no ignition :D ) and CRX VTEC were produced with B16A1 - 110kw in stock.
Also...from 1995 to 2001 Civic VTi 5 door was produced in england, but it is not a popular model, because of the shitty english quality. This model had a 1,8 engine with 124kw, same as GSR in US.
So much about VTi`s
