Default Turbine Speed Sensor

Hello, I have a 1997 Honda Accord SE with 109,000 miles on it. My CEL has been on for the past two months. The car has also been leaking transmission fluid. The CEL code is PO715, A malfunction in the input circuit for the turbine speed sensor. First, what is the input circuit for the speed sensor? Second what does it do? And third is it expensive to get replaced? I haven’t really noticed anything different in the way the car runs except some hard shifts while driving around 35mph in D4, but if you put it in D3 it runs great at lower speeds. I have changed my fluid religiously every 30,000 miles. Also is it worth getting fixed because I am getting rid of the car in September.
