i am deciding between an 05 Civic SI and a 05 accord v6 6spd. i know there is a big price difference but i am not sure if the accord is actually worth it.
btw how much are you all paying on insurance for your SI's?

most problems concerning the ep3 is clutch thens to click when pushed down on...tranny isnt very solding, griding gears, and SERIOUSLY THE STEERING RACK! (squeakkkkkkkkkkkks so fing loud) ill refer you to http://www.ephatch.com youll learn a lot more about the new hatchbacks...
It depends on what you are looking for.
If you want an out of the box racecar you will be disappointed. If you want good reliable transportation that is fun to drive, or if you are looking for a base car to mod then it is a good car. It does have some issues. 2nd gear is notoriously bad, and it is a little on the porky side, particularly when compared to an EG or something similar.

Agree.
For $16.5k or less, you can get a good daily driver with a nice interior. Throw a rear sway on it and in stock mode it still handles pretty well. I'd still take the Si over anything in that price range (maybe a Mazda3, but I've never driven one).
However, if you're just looking for speed, look elsewhere (SRT-4). Still, my Si has about $1k in engine mods and put down 159hp/134ish tq to the wheels on a humid day here in FL. Not too shabby.

a used type-s would be better! YOu can get onr for the same price as a new SLOW Si. They're not bad just need some help in the performance department. The type-s is definitley better in every aspect, except gas mileage, which isn't that much worse. You're gonna spend a lot to catch up to an S so start off with the S and go even faster with the same money you would of spent on the Si. Just my $.02
The type S is a hell of a nice car, and no question is faster than the EP, but the EP tops it in practicality. I don't know if you have ever tried to sit in the back seat of your type S, but the seats are god awful uncomfortable for anyone but but a small child or a midget. Also, while I don't routinely haul a lot of stuff in the back of my car, I was able to get my new 32" television in the back in the box. Try that with an RSX.
don't forget about insurance costs either. just out of curiosity i called my agent and asked what it would cost to insure a base RSX and a Type-S vs. my EP3.
base - 103/mo
Type s- 131/mo
EP3 - 86/mo
of course this is all based on your age, where you live, your driving record and what deductible you choose. but you get the idea....

Angelo, I too am in the process of purchasing a 2005 Civic Si, except I already placed my order and received a call yesterday confirming the VIN number. She will be leaving the Swindon Plant in England soon, and should be state-side by mid-February. It's a White w/side airbags.
If you read this entire thread again you will note that the ones who actually have an Si, like it. I know it's not a favorite of the majority out there, but if this is a car you like, my suggestion is to get one now while you can. I looked at several different options within Honda's (Civic Coupe Ex, Accord Coupe V6 6-speed w/Navi), Acura's (RSX type-S, TSX), and Toyota's (Celica GT-S, Solara SE Sport), but in the end, the Civic Si was my choice. Unlike many, I am happy with everything it has to offer (exterior/interior design, layout, and especially the high-mounted shifter). Since I am not going to make any modifications, the way the Si arrives from the factory, is the way she's going to stay.
Whatever the reasons for lack-of-sales are (dislike for design, lack of power, etc.), it is obvious there aren't many Sis out there, nor are there many being produced - I for one, like that. If you are happy with what the car has to offer right out of the box (without thousands of dollars in mind for upgrades), get it. Also, there was only one recall on the Si, and the only issue with that was to change a washer on the belt buckle, if necessary. If you purchase a new one, this will already have been addressed. You will have no problems with clutch, shifting, transmission, or anything like that. The ironic thing is, once the '05 Civic Si is gone, everyone will suddenly want what they can no longer get. My saying goes... "Cars are emotional buying experiences... if the Si doesn't stir you for what it has to offer, then don't do it!" Otherwise, get one and enjoy it like I will soon!

I was looking at the rsx and ep side by side and chose an 04 EP..I am very happy for the following reasons..
1) Resale value will go up since it is being discontinued
2) Most refined civic ever made
3) Only Honda I know of that's made in the UK..refer to number 1
4) RSX is seriously played out, don't see too many ep's on the street
5) K20 swap turns it into a friggin beast
6) Handles like it's on rails
7) Insurance rates are lower than rsx
8) It's a hatch
9) Compared to RSX you don't have to worry about it getting jacked

Exactly. You can also add:
10) About $8,000 less than a Hype-S
11) Much nicer seats than the RSXs (just look at how many people are dying to swap Si seats into their RSX)
12) Better steering rack
13) Much smaller turning cirlce and sharper steering
14) It's not the same car that every 17 y/o girl is driving

I really enjoy me ep3 and I happen to really like the hatch design. I would be hard pressed to come up with another car that gives the same bang for the buck.
