Default new to the world of turbos

i am saving up for a turbo kit for my 97 civic ex but i dont know what kit would best suit my little SOHC. i know DRAG makes kits so that you can just bolt it on a go and thats what im lookin for. also i want a kit that is cost effective. are there any other kits that would be good for my car with little to no modification. and if so....what is the safe amount of boost i should run...i hear 7lbs on a stock block is good but im not a expert. thanks any suggestions will be great.....

a sure fact on civics is to not boost more then 8psi...max on a stock motor....swap pistons and rods...and you can go up a bit, with a block gaurd...try looking into Greddy, Im not crazy about their turbos...but im not sure if they got ex's....or turbochargers.com. When you going to do something to your everyday car, cost efficient isnt ****....money is no object when it comes to your car, you get what you pay for...so if you have to save up a bit longer for something better and more reliable...do it, check out turbo magazine for some ideas too....Good luck

My advice,

Get this book, Maximum Boost by Corky Bell.

I know this doesn't answer your questions, but its well worth the time / money to learn what your getting into.

I currenty have a Greddy kit on my 97 EX. . .I run 5-7psi daily and when I feel like being stupid 10psi. It's nice for the time being. . .I have had it for 3 months. . .but I'm ready for something better. If you can do a motor swap I would recommend it, but if you cannot afford it I would go with an FMAX kit. . .MF2 setup very nice. . .pain in the *** to tune (so I hear). It all depends on your funds. . .it always depends on your funds. . .good luck.
