What lug nuts to use with extended wheels studs??????
I plan on installing my extended wheel studs tomorrow and need a good open ended lug nut, preferably with no special key needed, what are you guys using??
Thanks in advance..
Thanks in advance..
are you looking for what lug nuts to you on normal everyday wheels or for drag wheels like bogarts or welds?
I forget what the kind of lug nuts I am using for daily driving. Just some open end acorn nuts. I could not use the locks anymore b/c the key was not deep enough for the extended studs.
But for my bogarts I got the "special" bogart lug nuts.

I can't use any of the lugs with a key being that my arp studs are friggin long..just looking for a basic open ended lug nut 12x1.5??
Skunk2 lugs use no keys. The benefit of the Skunk2's are that they almost cover the entire stud with thread for extra strength. If you still can't decide on what to get just go to your local Pepboys or Autozone and get the standard open end lug nuts.
I have seen the Skunk ones but I am basically totally anti skunk..I think they sell garbage parts

true the bogarts have shank lugs, thank fully discount had some of them as well
Take the wheel down there and tell them you need some lugs.
You can cut the end off most of the lugs and make them open ended

how can you be anti-skunk and have that kind of an opinion and not know what kind of open ended lugs are out there.. if you are so sure that they are crap, what then is better? if you do know what is better why ask what you should get? anyways, im running skunk2 lugnuts myself.
and they work great

hmm why am I anti skunk? Could it be because I owned a set of their coilovers and the spring perch cracked on 2 occasions? Or is it the time I ran their wheel studs and and 4 of them sheered off during daily driving torqued to 80 foot lbs..Or is it the time I had their camber arms in the front of my EK and the top of the arm cracked in half..Or better yet was it their cam gears that would slip every other day and almost caused me to drop a valve and last but not least let us not forget the time that stage 2 b series intake cam split in two and destroyed my gsr head.so yeah I know a little about skunk..
The rims I have a 17x8 Enkei RPF-1 and will be running 15mm spacers in the front and 10mm spacer in rear on 225/45 Azenis on 04 EP3..This is only for the street so I can safely run spacers

I am using the Gorilla open ended lug nuts on my car with my ARP studs. I opted for the steel ones over the other brand aluminum lugs since I dont fully trust them. The site below sells the open ended Gorillas just look under the accessories section. Though they do have a key they are well built and made of steel so you wont strip them.

hit up tom at Camp1320.com. he got light weight aluminum lug nuts for extended wheel studs.. Zenki's.. i used them for my own race car

I have the long ARP wheel studs on mine and the key is long enough to go right over the studs with no issues. You can use any type of wrench that fits on the key. With the Gorillas you can even use your 19mm tire iron that came with the car. I just use a plain old ratchet with a 19mm socket on it.

lol.. when i was running my GS-R wheels all i did with the stock lugnuts was run them on with the gun, popped the endcaps right off the OE lugs, looked like the top of a soup can after being opened
and didn't have to cut them, the end caps are extremely thin

i have skunk2 lugs and studs, i have NEVER had a problem with them, they have worked well for me for about 2 years, and yes the cap at the end of the stockie lugs is very thin just run it on with an impact and it will pop right off

well if you're running some OE wheels then aftermarket lugs won't work.. i used the stock lugnuts with my gs-r wheels, but honestly extended studs on stock wheels look very gay!
