Default Axle question for CRX HF's

I have a CRX SI transmission just collecting dust in my garage. I want to install it on my stock '91 CRX HF but I know I would need different hubs; from a CRX/Civic SI. Is it possible to "piece together" axles? They come in 3 parts, so would I just be able to swap out the splined end that goes into the hub? It would be just like rebuilding an axle, kinda.

Did you do the work or did you buy the car that way? I only ask because that is what I have read for the past 2 years. The trans is from a 89 Civic SI.

well i don't know why your doing this but anyhow
i think that you can use the HF axles with the si tranny. i believe the inner part (the side that goes in the tranny) is the same its the outer, that goes in the hub, that is different. so if you keep the hf axles and hf hub i think it will work.

correct me if im wrong

i did the work my self. first i put a clutch in, then reverse went out so i bought a 88 hf swap for the tranny. the spindle was smaller because it had a exedy clutch and i was gonna use it, t would have had to change the flywheel. but then i picked up an si tranny for 50 bucks so i put it in didnt change anything used hf axles and clutch

Well, let me tell you the whole scenario, which I probably should have done first. I have a D16Z6 chillin' in the garage along with two transmissions, an EF SI and an EG SI. I know that I can't use the EF trans with the Z6 without buying a hydro-cable conversion. So assuming that I put in the Z6 when spring rolls around without buying the conversion, would I be able to put in the EF SI trans? So I guess my question really is this; Can I use my current HF axles with the EF SI trans? Is the spindle count on the SI trans the same as the one of my HF trans?

Thanks for the quick replies.

Yes it will work.

I know for sure because I have an HF and I swapped to the non HF axles to run Integra front knuckles. The trans side of the axles and the lenght is the same on the HF(and 4speed civic) and the rest of 5speed civics 88-91. The HF has smaller splines on the wheel side of the axle.

On an odd side note, the HF runs smaller axle tubes too which were lighter than the other axles or maybe they were hollow big tubes. I know that when I put them away they were much lighter than the nonHF axls I had. It's hard to believe Honda spent the money to tool up for these odd HF parts just to make that car lighter.
