Default 110 for 4 hours?

Is doing 110 for 4 hours straight hard on the engine? We drive back from Vegas doing about 110 the whole way, sometimes hitting 130 comming down hills. We were in the middle of the desert so there wasn't really anyone around.

Just wondering if this was a bad idea.

Flamebait

I don't think your engine cared at all.

Stock FD? No problem. I wouldn't do that with an ATS.

In an ITR? I don't think that's possible. You would run out of gasoline before you hit the four hour mark...

he might be referring to the fact hes traveling in the desert....

but never the less, i dont see the issue with a properly maintance vehicle.

Yeah, my oil temps seem to get to a "steady state" after 15 minutes, and they don't really go much higher after that. Cruising at 110 is a lot less work for the motor than whipping around a track at WOT most of the time.

Of course, in a 3.5 hour enduro, I'd need to stop for gas three or four times and get oil in two of those pit stops.

YMMV

It's more than fine... as long as your oil was in decent condition and you didn't overheat.

No problem at all, I'm doing it all the time on highways. Ask Germans about their autobahns
