Default How important is it to torque to specs

Hey I was wondering how important it is to torque bolts down to factory specs when it comes the motor or suspension. Does tightening too much cause adverse effects?

torque it too much it will break the bolt

if you dont torque it enough you may have a chane the bolt will come lose and something may break or fall off

when it comes to a motor its important to torque it down to spec. its also important that you torque them down in the correct sequence depending on what you're bolting/unbolting.

head bolts should never be reused if they are stock

as for lca bolt (the one where the strut is connect) replace those if those are still stock if you plan on changing your spring or strut

With another new OEM bolt? Or something else?

u can use any bolt which is the same as an oem one, u will get raped by the prices if you go ALL oem, some things dont "need" to be oem quality

I know that you shouldn't reuse your head bolts because they stretch with the heat. If you torque something too much you may strip it out before you break the bolt. But when you are dealing with the motor generally you will break the bolt. My best advice is to get a torque wrench, the "click type" if you have the money.

its important. Everything has a torqe spec. Sparkplugs, wheel lugs, oil pan drain plug..

I still need to get a torque wrench of some sort.
