Suspension on a 87 integra
I have a friend that ran into a sidewalk at like 10 miles an a hour. His driver side wheel is messed up. We jacked up the car and took a look. I don't know the name of the parts, but his front suspension looks a lot like the rear suspension on my car. I guess it would be the equivalent of the lower arm and the trailing arm. He says that his manual says that the second part is a radius arm. Anyway are there any good places to order used parts like this or new ones if they are a reasonable price. Thanks for any help.
The first gen Integras used the same suspension as the 84-87 Civic/CRX. The fron has a torsion bar and that flat plate arm that you saw coming out perpendicular to the wheel attaches to the torsion bar and yes the curve bar is the radius arm. You can get those used probably at Import Auto Salvage in Marion NC http://www.importautosalvage.com/. However the flat bar gets pressed into that varying diameter tube that's welded to the sub frame and the radius arm is one piece with the ball joint so make sure the ball joint is in good shape. You may just do better by picking up the entire subframe.
This sounds much bigger than I thought it would be. Is this something that can be accomplished with "normal" tools? Or should it be done by a body shop? Thanks for the help.
My brother did the exact same thing to his 87 CRX last week when my car was in the shop.(when it rains it pours)
One shop said he might need an entire sub-frame. He refered us to another shop.
It's there awaiting estimate.
