JDM Swap Info
Hey guys, first post on here so first off, Hey.
I got a 1995 Honda Civic ex, Im about to do a engine swap because but I wanna keep it legal because this is my daily driver to WyoTech, and I need a reliable/legal swap in it. I was about to order a b16 from Hmotorsonline.com, their USDM 95 so I can BAR it, but they replied saying all they have are JDM engines now.
I havnt been able to get my CRX with a b16 91(JDM) legally bar'd yet either, it has stock usdm ecu, mani, ex mani, etc etc. Ive been told 3 times that I need these US parts, then got them all, and now told that I cant BAR a JDM engine no matter what in cali. Ive been reading up on the laws and havnt found anything saying JDM isnt legal on the CA DMV site, and ive read alot of pople saying they did it. I searched and came up with good info, but it conflicts alot so heres my question.
If I ordered, from HMOTORSONLINE.COM, The complete 1995 B16 Changeover, with intake mani, ecu, trans, clutch, starter, alt. , etc etc etc, and put it in my 95 civic ex. As long as it was the US ECU, Intake Mani, CAT, technically they cant say no and fail me right? Even though the engine is JDM, and same yr as my car with the USDM ecu and intake mani/cat and sensors and what not.
I really would like to find a reliable place in california to just order a complete swap thats USDM so I dont have to pay tons for shipping, or a shop I can take it to. Anyone recommend a shop in northern cali??
Ill keep looking for more info, i hear so much back an forth and I think alot of it depends on the ref..
