Maaco???
I was thinking to get a new paint job for my 89 CRX but do you guys agree with Maaco? I live in San Diego but if you know any other place to get a nice paint job, where do you guys go? It will really help if you could give me some advice about body paints and the amount I could probably spend is about $300-$450. Also if you have some pics that you could post, I will love to see them and the place where you got the job done.
I got my car done at maaco. just thought i give my 2 cents in coming from the eg forum. 300 dollars with presidential deal. took 4 days to finish. had the paint job for almost 2 years until my car got totalled, but the paint held up very well. At maaco, its either hit or miss. oh yea...i didnt do any prep work before going to get it done.
I heard from a friend that it cost more if you change the original color to something else but is that true? My CRX is sky blue but I wanted to repainted Black or White.
Not trying to be an *******, but try searching cause there was a discussion on this like 1 or 2 months ago.
You get what you pay for. If you want your paint looking like glass, dont go to Maaco.

Yea seriously it just depends. look around other then macco, i mean those mexicans can paint but my buddy worked there he said its fine but he prefers doing ur own prep if u do the cheap paint. I found a place here its gonna cost 500 but u get a 5 year warrany so hey sounds good to me. Go with the warranty, ask macco if they have one and how many years. id try to get atleast 3 years.

Really depends where you go because its really the painter that paints your car and how much experiance they have you can get someone that paints your car that might have been working there for like 10 to 15 years and knows how to put the paint down or you might get some guy thats been working there for a few months. If I was you just go to the macco nearest to you like every two to three days and see what kind of cars they got coming out of there look for tiger strips over spray etc, etc

if you go to a body shop and ask for a paint job, you're gonna get a quote of 1000 to 2000, and these guys know what they're doing. i thought about maaco, and then i asked a friend that owns a body shop and got a few other quotes. all the other ones were at least 1500, so like everyone else is saying, you get what you pay for. you'll get a better quality at a real body and paint shop. maaco is all about production, and getting as much done as quickly as possible, thats why its so cheap.but, i've seen for or five maaco jobs, and they're not to bad. in the end, i decided to do have my dad do it, he's awesome, done quite a lot of painting. but, it was a bad call. he's not very motivated. then he was hurtin for money, and since he'd my dad, i went ahead and gave him the five hundred for doing it while it was still in his garage just sanded and primered. anyway, long story short, its been four months, and he hasn't touched it since we cut a sunroof in the top. lazy bastard.

I've seen older hot rods that come out of Maaco with this paint job.
They look very good!!!!
It's a real paint job. Real prep, real paint (basecoat/clearcoat) and usually a pretty good job.

Maaco blows. Not to deface the company, but my sister went there. She went with same-color paint job. The day after she got it outta the shop it showed they didn't do prep work. It was already chipping on the hood where it had been chipping before. Her boyfriend at hte time took his black mustang in. You could tell they didn't seal off the paint booth, or took the car out too soon. It came out with yellow spots from pollen. Yes, they're cheap, and excellent if you're driving paint shop to dealership to sell with a clean look. But for myself, I'll take it to a real shop. Your best bet is to hit one of these collision centers. They usually kick ***. If you can find an "Abra" collision center, they're supposedly among the best centers out there, and for good pricing.
