Default My rpm needle doesnt move .. need some help

everyday i wake up, i start my car and let it warm up, then everytime i drive it the rpm needle doesnt move. like it stays at 1000 rpms. then when im drivng and givin it gas, the needle seems to lagg, its basiclly inaccurate. i can rev it really high and it wont go anywhere. but then once i drive for about 25 mins street/highway it goes back to normal and the needle works normal again.
all the other stock guages work. gas, mpg, water guauges all work, just not the rpm tach. could there be a wire malfunction or sumtin.

thanks to all that help.
