HONDA RACERS A DYING BREED
First Lisa Kubo now Gary Gardella. Whats happening people, all these guys switchin to chevys. Import racing is supposed to be dominated by imports not ah bunch of domestics.
what u guys think about the whole situation.
what u guys think about the whole situation.
there are plenty of hondas out there and i think these people worked hard to get where they are. This sport needs more pro teams chevy or honda it doesn't matter to me.
i don't think honda racers are a dying breed, there are a few new hondas coming out this year and for the drivers that are switching over its more of a financial issue i think. How would any racer say no to a major sponsorship whatever the make. If KIA put up the money to a racer and the offer was right they wouldn't say no, it much easier to play with other peoples money.
It doesn't look like a bashing article to me. It looks like the truth. Honda hasn't made anything we want since 2000.
Alot of us grew up tinkering with honda's, and now that they don't support the sport that the "civic nation" built, **** em.
Nobody is a "honda racer", they are just a racer, and if racing is more important to every manufacturer but honda, than they do what they do to RACE.

true, but at the same time, gm hasn't made anything we want at all... they are just dumping money into programs, which benefit those who are lucky enough to get the driving jobs. I say once gm, and domestics in general, exploit the import scene to their benefits, i.e.- sell cars, and as soon as the sales drop-- they are gone.
When/if that happens, that will set back the "pro class" in my opinion, as you wont have people w/ the $ who can compete at the level they were at w/ the big backers. At the same time, the big backers make it hard for the "little" guy. so all in all, it is love/hate deal. may as well benefit while u can, and hope no adverse effects come out in the long run. At the same time, othe car companies need to step up and bring some cars to the line. The market is there, so why aren't they fielding teams?

Racing is more important to every other manufacturer but Honda??? How blind are you?
Honda grew up racing.... and continue to win championships. Drag racing just happens to not be in their fortee. So what? Deal with it.
And it is true that Honda hasn't built anything we want to race since 2000. The only thing happening right now is the K-swap. I will continue staying loyal to Honda as long as they continue to race and provide us with vehicles in which to do so.

For every Import racer going our into domestics their are at least more than two heavy hitters coming in. We can't forget also that the fastest and quickest import period in the sport compact industry is a Honda. (Stpehan Papdakis) Honda does help out for those who do not know.
Being new here and coming from a different manufaturer background (Nissan) i maybe stepping on some toes here, but we know Imports are very popular rather it be Honda, Nissan, Toyota,Mitsu, etc. But lets remember present "import" racing isnt even "import" any more, its sport compact. Chevy and Ford have both found their place in our racing culture, its not all about Japan anymore. Every company plays its part and the dominance of each sector of racing changes constantly, so the ECOTEC motor owns the Sport Compact strip right now, but look back just 2-3 years ago was it the same story, i personally dont think so. With an industry that evolves and changes so quickly who is to say who will own the strip, the autocross lot, the circuit or the drift circle next? So is Honda a dying breed? I wouldnt say so, because you never know whose in the garage making the next low 7's import do you?
The simple question is: "What car do you see more fixed up at the car shows and raced in the bracket classes." Just looking at those areas at car show and races will tell you whether Imports are a dyeing breed."

I'm not blind enough to not know that I posted in the DRAG RACING forum, where the original poster started the post with names like Lisa Kubo and Gary G.

honda racers are not a dying breed, we are just going through the passing of generations, it is a young sport, people like steph, ed and all the cali, nj boys have gotten us this far, they've been doing this for many years now, and now the youngers guys are coming into the playing field allowing the older and wiser guys to step up into some big factory backing.
the classes aren't falling apart, the classes and series are still a very new item. this is just the beginning, each series is trying to solidify it's foundation in this new sport.
think about how long nhra has been going now for domestics, it has been a while now. now for us it's been what 4/5 years? our sport is a child among men, let it grow

i agree...
i think people should put there energy into going faster..instead of bitching..plus i wanna see some other honda guys step up anyway..we put all this energy into bitching about GM when we can put it towards supporting the people who are still trying to hold it down for the Honda camp..

It's nice to see more diversity. The Honda trend can't last forever. People get bored/move on, quit and try new things. I don't see anything Honda dying off anytime soon. The RSX and EP3 civic still have alot of potential for people to build up.

Its very simple Honda created VTEC, the ability to be fast, economical and affordable. Since then the rest of the Herd has caught on and there are now many options with the same bang for the buck. That's business and its not gonna change, Honda may not ever be what it used to! Now we have Subaru, Nissan GM Mazda all fighting for that piece of the pie.

yeah, the motors have potential, not those ugly *** chassis'. the only way to make those things worth racing is to chop the top down like skunk did on their tube chassied RSX.
