Looking for feedback: 17x8 wheel (40 offset)-225/45 tire
Ordered wheels/tires mostly for road-course driving at HPDE:
Enkei RP01 17x8
Falken Azenis Asym 225/45ZR17
Think they'll rub the fender?
Think they'll look alright? Per my calculations, the wheels will stick out about 1" more than current stock wheels/tires.
Comments welcomed!

Why did you go with such a big wheel? Smaller wheels are better for track driving.. Let rotational inerta.. Better braking, acceleration, and tires are cheaper.. Just curious..
I think 17s aren't all that bad for an RSX for racing, considering the ITR comes with them stock in Japan, but I think a 8" rim is a little wide for our cars. I would have gone with a 7.5" just to be on the safe side. It shouldn't be too bad though.

What is stock size, 16x6.5"?? If so, just get a wider and lighter wheel.. JMO though
Discount tire doesn't have the RP01 in 7.5 width with the right offset for the RSX. Had to go with 8" wide. I'll try them on the car when they come in and if they don't look right, I'll get something else.
I know it is back-asswards to buy a wheel based on the tire I want to get (the Falken Azenis ZR) so I may just switch to a different wheel and tire combo and wait for the Falkens to come out in a better size (215/50 would probably be right tire diameter).
I'll keep you posted - thanks for the feedback.

I would go with the 215/45/16.. George Knighton has them on his ITR and they are great.. JMO though... Plus, with a 45 tire, it will be a smaller diameter than stock, and more acceleration, and that is what you want in a track package..

The RP01 offset for 7.5" is 32mm, which they are telling me is not enough positive offset compared to the 6.5", 45mm offset on the stock wheel.
The 8" wheel has a 38mm offset, which they say will fit.
I would prefer the 7.5" width, as I don't really want to go with 1.5" over stock width, but this wheel is strong and comparatively light (especially for the price).
Anybody have other wheel choices in 17x7.5 that are below $200/wheel and are in the 16-17 pound range?

Actually now that I've looked around at what other people are using as far as wheel/tire combo on the RSX, your setup should work out just fine as long as the car isn't too low. It might rub the inside of the fender when your trying to park, but besides that you should be fine. Good luck with your purchase.
Rubbing while parking is my smallest worry. I'll be at VIR running through the uphill esses at over 100mph, and don't want to rub there if the suspension is at full compression. The suspension is stock, so it is not lowered at all. I'll letcha know what happens.
