Default Civic front end damage

I had an accident last weekend and the car has been at the Auto-body since. They said they would have the estimate written up wed but when we called thursday and friday they were still finalizing it Its a 98 honda civic dx. We do have full coverage. We have put lots of parts on the car that i dont want to lose. Ive never been in an accident before and dont know how it all works. If its totaled, how do they go about selling the car back to me? They just throw a price in the air?

oh, if you are wondering I hit a tree

definately totaled i crashed my first civic (a 91 white box) into a tree as well. anytime the frame is bent, like it will be in your case, it's usually gets totaled cause straightning the frame is #@!$@#! of a job and expenisive. The insurance company will usually look at the blue book value and charge you about 25% of that to buy the car back at least thats what it was in my case. good luck man and sorry it had to happen to you i know how much it sucks

they go by what the car is worth and if the damage goes past what the car is worth then its totaled ......as for the car bein totaled you might be in luck . i didnt hit a tree but i hit a van and had front end damage . there are 5 pieces to the front of the car that can be replaced . when i had my acc. i stripped the whole front end and bought the pieces i needed and it was fixed but i also bought new fenders and lights basicly everything to put the car back to norm ...if your ins. company will let the body **** use after market or used parts it might bring the cost down

good luck

DAMN!
That is a big hit, It's not worth buying back, seriously, but if you do buy it back, i can't see it costing more than 1k tops.

That car has come a long way, like i said we have alot of parts on the car that we would like to keep. If i could take all the parts off of the car i might be happy with that. Suspension, Kirk 4pt. , Exhaust, Seats, etc... anything that i can put on another civic.

Im just thankfull that Melissa and I are still alive. i wasnt wearing my seatbelt(hammer ) and kissed the windshield, broke the steering wheel, and who knows what else.

i go to salvage auctions all the time and see cars like this go for 500-700 all day long, so id say most you should pay is 500 to ins, or have someone (like your friend who owns the honda yard) go to the auction n buy you car back that way

lol.. dood the car is fuckign totalled.. you don't "patch" or fix a totalled car. It's done.. and you bought what back.. a 17 second stock y7.. with 80 headers, and a 16 dollar intake...

shrug.. you also won't be able to put that car on the road. totalled is totalled. If you do get it on the road again that vin will cause your insurance rates to be 2x

i used to not wear a seatbelts, then me and my friend had a wreck where he hit the guy in front of us....it was in a 240sx and it had auto seatblets, if those werent automatic, i definatly wouldnt have had a seatbelt on and been hurt really bad if not dead...so for seatbelts...and my advice, is to always wear them

here in canada the law states that any parts not covered under the collison insurance still belong to you, how ever it is still a HUGE pain in the____ to actualy get permision to take them back and in the case of say a (rear)bumper you might have to give them the original (if you still have it). i hate insurance companys
