i'm thinking about getting skunk2 stage 1's for my STOCK jdm b18cr. i saw some posts in the archives where it made some power up top over the stock cams, but what i'm really looking for is better midrange. do these cams outperform the stockers in the midrange? i'm not inclined to go for stage 2's because of the upgraded valvetrain expense
spend the money on a good header and get as much power out of the stock cams as you can.. I didn't see much difference in the skunk stage 1's as I did with stock... Kinda disappointing and a waste of my time if you ask me.

How were you disappointed with those cams?
How did you not notice a difference?
I was thinking of buying these cams, but Ive never heard of anyone saying they didnt notice a difference over stock. Can you please go into it further as to why you didnt notice a difference over stock.

Very well worth it.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Stunna what kind of gains did you see with them? With the skunk stage 1's are they an aggressive cam to were you have to worry about your timming belt breaking or shreddding?

Mike quit wasting your time and buy our Alaniz head we have for sale, JUN 3 valvetrain etc. etc. LS-V-attack prepped but you can take out the plug
Mine were just slapped in my B16 with an ITR valvetrain, and my car only has a couple bolt ons,and i noticed a nice difference.I wouldnt be surprised to see 160ish whp next time i dyno (fyi the car made 149 with just i/e,now it has i/h/test pipe/stock catback s2s1's/itr springs-retainers/stock ecu)

This is just my opinion... but the skunk 1's aren't that much more aggressive than the stock R cams. I guess if picking up a couple of whp here or there is your thing you can't go wrong.
I am just saying that for the money and time you put into doing this mod you can just get a really good header, hondata and make almost identical numbers.
Unless you are going to spend the money to get it tuned right... Its a total waste of money either way you go...
I would just tune the stock cams with a really good header and hondata then go from there.

I gained about 10hp with these cams and they pull really nice over the stock cams once in VTEC. It wasn't until I got my Hondata installed and tuned that I was able to fully realise the power gains from my cams because they pull past the stock rev limiter on the stock ECU. So just bolting these cams on will give you a gain but unless you tune them with at least a VAFC and cam gears you won't realise their full potential. I felt they were woth the money for sure.
