Default Real intakes vs. Ebay ones

ok everyone that i talk too tells me to get a intake off of ebay instead of a real AEM, and i argued the point that the AEM is better but a guy said "how, its only a pipe and a filter" and i got to thinking about that and i know the pipes are supposed to be "tuned" to each application but is it worth the extra 150 bucks. Iv seen intakes on ebay for 50 bucks and the cheapest CAI from AEM is around 200 bucks that 150 could be put toward somthing diff

not just cuz it says AEM but if i pop my hood, so people wont say o its a ebay intake instead thell think o its AEM, im critical about what people think about me and my car, so ya i guess im worried about it saying AEM

Who cares what other people think. As posted above, it's just a metal pipe with a filter. Just get the eBay one and upgrade the filter.

On my EF, it was actually cheaper for me to get an ebay CAI w/ filter instead of a stock K&N drop in filter

i've dyno tested both Ebay special and an AEM CAI on my 2.0L teg.

I got 2hp more outta the AEM with the same filter. Namely due to HEAT DISSAPATION.

The AEM sheds heat better than the ebay special.

but NOT worth the xtra money in my oppinion for the 2 extra HP. Go get ur ECU chipped or something with the xtra cash.

What I was gonna say is that even if you do get it dyno tested... We're only talking a 1 or 2 hp difference at the most... And keep in mind that dyno's are known to be off by a couple horsepower each pull.

Like I said, CAI's are just pipes and a filter.

dont worry about an AEM sticker...buy a K&N filter and then slap the K&N sticker on ur ebay pipe.

My girlfriend got a short ram intake off ebay and it was pretty nice. The filter sucks but just add a K&N and you will have an exact AEM replica. Buy ebay and a new filter and save your money

unless you need every last tenth of a horsepower, then eBay ones - especially with a good K&N or K&N-style filter (they usually come with really crappy quality ones).... are going to work just as well. Or, if you are showing your car at car shows....it might be a better thing to have than a generic one for points reasons.

save ur money just get a k&n drop in filter or cone. Performance gains of an CAI or short ram intake on a car with your setup is minimal at best. I suggest using that 200 bucks you were gonna spend on a after market intake and invest in Hondata and get your car tuned. Sell that SAFC because its not really helping you. IMO good luck

no way im gonna sell this SAFC. Its the limited edition JGTC model that only 1000 were shipped to USA so its pretty rare, and well atleast it makes me "look" fast i cant tell u how many people have seen that sitting on my dash and meets and think im "serverly" modded since i dont pop the hood

I've a cheap drop in filter on my standard pipes and even that makes the difference on my 93 1600 Integra (soon to be v-tec )...dont waste your money on expensive stuff, as you say it's all the same at the end of the day, just pipes and a filter...unless you intend racing on the track of course
