Getting a REAL JDM DC5R, worth it?
In a few years I would've saved up the money, be in the market for another stock daily beating toy. The big question: is it worth it? Any DC5R owners care to share their experiences with owning a DC5R stateside?

I bailed out of my 2000 Aust spec DC2R into a 2001 JDM DC5R because I found myself wanting one all the time.
In the end I have mixed feelings about the move.. Mostly positive but there are downsides too. I'd say it depends on your priorities really.

There is this place somewhere in Ft Lauderdale, that imports RHD cars, then sells them downsouth. Legit RHD Jap cars. Only way to get a hold of these cars is word of mouth. If I find my disc that has these cars, I wil post them up. My friend who lives down there, gave me a call but I really dont have 30,000 for a DC5-R or a skyline, or evo.
The DC5 is superior in every way to the DC2, if you get one, you can be sure that you will be causing many people to throw up everywhere because of the JDM nastyness. Anyone who owns a type R (DC2) should be loving these cars, theyve improved them in MANY ways!!!
Umm.. I like my JDM DC2R more than a JDM DC5R to be honest...
Got to drive my friend's newly imported DC5R when she was wearing high heels that day. Can't really put my finger on what's wrong, but it didn't feel 'right' either.. Don't get me wrong though, it handled great, drove smoothly, had enough torque down low and shifting into 6th gear was a new experience...
Just too comfy to be a 'R'.

I dont agree..i have drove a few of them and to me theyre far too refined compared to the rawness of the DC2. Theyre a great car but theres something missing from the over all package. Plus i dont really like their high stance compared to the DC2. Saying that in a few years time i probably wil buy one. Theres one in our autotrader this week, a 2001 CW one, with shipping damage (which it says it very light panel damage) anyway it would cost me €18000 ($23400) registered and on the road here...

but a lot of ppl on http://www.evolutionm.net saying how it was all a scam, and how some guy payed like 3x,xxx for a Evo7 and never got it

Florida is kinda far. If I were to get one I'd probably just fly to Japan and just pick out a brand new one. I've driven the stock RSX-S 2003 and 2005 ones. They feel very capable for daily beating. As compared to my DC2R, they sorta lack the same feel in handling. It sorta falls short. I've never driven a JDM DC5R but going from GSR to Type R was a major change. I sort of have the same expectations in comparing RSX-S with JDM DC5R.
I just want something in a few years that'll serve as another daily beater. I'd probably leave it mostly stock, not have to worry as much about being stolen.

i read in an article about the Jhpusa's dc5R. that in order for the owner of the company to import it to the states.. the car was stripped. meaning. no motor. wheels, windows.. and the only thing that was still intact was the suspension or brakes.... Now the million dollar question is.. is it worth to to reinstall everything?
