on fir night I was downtown driving around when I saw a suspicous car w/ it's headlights on "crawling" down the road. I new immediatly what this was and I had no choice but to turn, I did and that seccond he turned his lights on and pulled me over. I was not speeding and doing everything legally. He said the reason he pulled me over is because of my headlights and turn signals. I spoke w/ the most respect and questioned him as to what I can /can not get that is legal. he went to his car and wronte me 2 tickets totaling to 251.80. What can I do if anything? what are the chances of it getting reduced/taken back? Thanks for your input-oh and I just recieved a ticket 2 weeks ago for "imprudent speed" in my winter beater-87 plymouth sundance. he said he had no idea how fast I was going, but it must have been over the limit. The ticket has a line through all of the speed things, and he asked what the limit was and I said 40/45. he said 35 and at that time I had passed about 1 1/2 miles ago a speed limit sign saying 45. again, what do you think?

 

Perhaps you could tell us what type of headlights/turn signals you have now.

 

before I had headlights that were sligtly tinted blue w/ the lights on, but when they were off they looked really blue. It's nothing compared to some of the blue lights out there, but there is a slight noticable tint. I bought the car like that, so I have no clue what kind they are. my corners only flash when my lights are off, but they are blue bulbs, but shine white. The same is for my bumper lights, they look blue but shine white. I agian don't know what kind they are, but I think they might be apc. I might call the old owner and ask, should I?

 

the ticket for the "imprudent speed" sounds like bullshit, when you go to your court date, be respectful of course, but bring up the point that you disticnty remember seeing a sign saying 45 and do not recal seeing a sign saying 35 at all, and that you very well may have missed it, and tell the judge your are 95% sure you were going around the aprox speed of 45. I've met a lot of judges in my life for various reasons and as long as you are respectable and sound like your telling the truth you can usually get things lowered, especially something as stupid as this, unfortuantley I have no experience with being pulled over for the headlight things, sorry, hope I helped--whatever you do though, don't run from the cops, it's not good, lol

 

I dont' know how WI works, but in SC as long as the color of the actul light touching the surface (ground, other cars, etc) is the color it is supposed to be (white) (for taillaights the breaklight/turnsignals must GLOW red/orange; sidemarkers may glow any color as long as they do not SHINE), then it does not matter what color the lense or bulb is. A friend of mine has a Ford Escort ZX2 and her inside turnsignals closer to the center fo the car inbetween the headlights have been rewired so they are always on when the lights are on, she has blue lenses and blue bulbs, and it glows really really blue, like police blue, it is not illegal, b/c they do not shine or flash blue, only glow, and she still has turn signals on the corners of her car that work nomally. She has been told this is "legal", and can only receive a ticket for it if she is pulled over for speeding or some other real violation and those lights are on at the time she is caught, he even said if she is stopped in a roadblock at night most police would be pretty leaniant. I know this prob doesn't help you out too much, but if you lived in SC it sounds like you should be fine, he couldn't have pulled you over for just that, as long as they are shinning white like they are supposed to.

 

let me give you some advice that i wish someone had gave me. i found this out from personal experience. cops are right, you are wrong. you can be a 110% sure you were going 10 miles under the speed limit. do you think they give a ****. no! the cop says you were goin 50 then you were goin 50. thats just how it goes. dont waste your time goin to court. because 500 dollars court cost later i thought to myself "boy was that a waste of time" the only chance you would have is if you had it all on video. cops are mostly power trippin crooked assed ****** fuc*ers! notice i didnt say all but alot are. you can be as respectable and nice to the judge as you want but to him your a crazy *** kid with a damn rice burnin car that has no respect for thespeed limit. hope this helps.

 

This is why I don't mess with my lights. Imprudent speeding is WI's most bullshit traffic violation next to "unecessary acceleration." Basically when the cop can't get you on radar or pulls you over for no reason other than to harass you, you get an imprudent speeding ticket. The bitch of it is that it's a ******* 4 point ticket. I got one this fall and it took a lawyer to get it reduced to a disorderly conduct with a motor vehicle.

 

DAMN, remind me never to go to WI, my lawyers have got me completley out of 2 tickets, and reduced one, one I reduced by myself just becuase I showed up to court, and plead guilty. I could be wrong, but you might want to show up to court and just plead guilty if you don't want to argue it, if you plead guilty what do you have to loose?--they can't increase the fine---but I agree with almost all cops are ********, luckily I know my city better than they do, and running isn't "too" hard for me.
