Thinkin' of new car 98 impreza 2.5rs
I found a beautiful impreza 2.5rs with only 50K and was in need of input... anyone who has experience with the car please add some thoughts... reliability, speed, modability, fun to drive, ect.ect., Oh and how much would i expect to pay for this car??
my last car was a 2.5 and now i have a turbo gsr. If both cars are relativly stock than i would go with the 2.5rs. I think it handles alot better than the integra, its great in the snow, it has good low to mid range torque but its not that fast at high speeds.0-60 the 2.5 would beat the integra, but 60-up the gsr is faster. It is also alot more rare than an integra, and i personally think that it has more character (looks wise). From what i heard they are reliable, and i didnt have any problems with mine. The only catagory where the integra is much better is the transmission. The 2.5 tranny is good, but it feels really notchy compared to a gsr one.
My bro has an 01 2.5RS. His car compared to mine, (01 GS) is a world of difference. The awd is amazing, and the engine is pretty quick near stock. (His only mods are cat back exhaust and intake.) The pull of the boxer engine stock was even making me consider a 2.5RS.
The only thing I don't like is the high price of aftermarket subaru parts. Average price of lowering springs is in the $200's, Quality brand cai's are at least $200, etc.
The stock 16" rims are decent as is. My bro has Azeni's, paired with the AWD 90 degree turns are fun in his car.
There's also a bit of difference in driving style when I drive my car or his. During cornering you can be on the throttle when integra's cannot. The awd makes a huge difference.
I think the RS also looks really good stock and has heaps of potential.
In the end i think it comes down to what you'd prefer. I myself have become accustomed to Honda, I just like 'em. I've driven an Sti before and i admit they are mean *** cars, and powerful too. But for the price of a new Sti vs a new S2...I'm leaning more towards the S2 at the start.

Hey if you've already got the GSR, why don't you take the 6k-9k for the RS and turbo your GSR. For that price, you could turn your car into an awesome machine that you'll never get tired of. If you get the RS, you have to start from scratch.
The WRX IS the turbo version, the 2.5 RS is not. I wouldnt buy a Subaru simply because of all the money I would save in the long run paying for repairs.
