I recently picked up a 92 EX sedan and it seems fine. I can tell that there has been bodywork performed on the car and it's missing a few pieces and has a few issues that need to be dealt with. It runs well though...for now.

Currently my biggest concern is that I had my check engine light come on last night. I downshifted and floored the car up until about 6.7K RPM and when I let off the gas, the CEL lit up. I checked the code using the paper clip method and got a code 22 which according to http://www.c-speedracing.com/faq/05.html is VTEC Oil Pressure Switch defective circuit or unplugged / defective oil pressure switch.

Does anyone know what this means in dumb person/non-mechanic's terms? How would I go about checking/troubleshooting and fixing this problem? I assume this means no VTEC for now correct? Thanks for any help or insight.

check your engine oil level first

 

The oil level is fine but the oil is filthy and I need to change it ASAP. After changing the oil, I'll reset the ECU and see if I can reproduce the problem. Thanks. Anyone know of any online diagrams that show where the oil pressure switch is? I just got the car and have yet to purchase a Helms.
