Default Electrical problem, no dash lights, need help.

What a mess, I just went through my dash wiring at school. The kid that had the car before me did a crap job. There was about 5 splices coming from grounds and power wires under my dash hood. Before, my heater control lights and license plate lights didn't work. I went and hooked all the wires back up how they should have been. now i don't have any dash lights at all. Me and my teacher tried to find out why i had no dash lights but couldn't find it. Everything seems to have power and all the grounds seem good. I dont know what is wrong. my license plate lights still don't work but they could just be burnt out, i didn't have time to test them. Who knows. Next week my teacher said we will look at it again. Maybe i need a new instrument panel. not sure. If we can't fix it next week then i might just try a used one. Any suggestions. i'm stumped. (I used a multimeter to test the power and grounds going to the instrument cluster, dimmer switch, dash lights, everything i could think of and they all checked out but still no dash lights)

it sounds like you may have blown a fuse did you check that also your dimmer switch could be bad and thats why you light arent coming on the gauge cluster

All the fuses are fine and I tested the dimmer switch with a multimeter and that checked out good, even my teacher in auto school helped me out and he couldn't figure it out either, we ran out of time in class but that was after we checked everything we could think of. Next class he said we will look at it again but we are both stumped. ahhhhhhhhhhgggggggg. Wiring sucks, especially when some idiot decides to cut up a bunch of wires to fix a problem and then makes another. I might trade my hatch for 2 crxs though. A stock dx, and an SI that needs some work. Can't trade till i fix the electrical problem though.
