Default A formal goodbye to my S2k...

This happened back in Dec., but I am just now getting around to posting it. Going around a turn doing the speedlimit, hit some ice and the rear end came out.....was able to catch it, but as it made contact with grippy asphalt again, the car snap oversteered the other direction fast enough to where I couldn't stop it. Slid into a tree around 45mph. I live in Georgia, so I was like wtf is ice doing on the road? Turns out, there is a guy that lives just off that turn and his house is uphill from it...apparently he had washed his car that day and the water ran down his driveway and across the turn. Combine that with the 28deg. weather that night and you have oddball ice patch that came from "nowhere". I miss the hell out of the car, its the best car I have ever owned and the only one where I knew I could get in it, beat the **** out of it, and never worry about breaking anything. Anyways, I am planning on purchasing crazyitr's evo this coming weekend should everything go as planned. Here are some pics. BTW, I was perfectly fine and even drove the car home(was 1 mile from the house).

airbag only seems to deploy on frontal collisions. as for the evo, becareful with mods. they have a tendency to go BOOM

Yea, I think that was another reason the car acted the way it did. The were being replaced the next day . I WILL get another S2k some day, but I need a more insurance friendly car right now that can try to approach the feel of the S2k. The evo is the only 4 door that comes close.

When i quoted insurance on cars, the Evo was actually more than my wife's S2000, weird but oh well...sorry to see that happen, we're in GA too and i have seen some strange ice patches with no apparent source all over the place...crazy how that guy probobly never found out...

Thats funny, the insurance on the evo for me was about the same as my S2000. Anyways, sorry to hear your car go but at least you came out unharmed. Good luck with the evo, let the mods begin

insurance on an evo is only a couple bucks higher than my S. i think the 4 door lowers it but then turbo raises it. i guess it evens out

Its about $400/yr lower on the EVO than it is for my S2k. Yea, someone is going to get a good motor and tranny. It only had 17.5k miles on it and ran like a champ. One thing I am going to hate on the EVO is the understeer. I am going to have to find a way to minimize it as much as possible. I loved ripping up the autox course in my S2k, I hope to do the same w/ the EVO. Always had the fastest street tire time in my class(BS). Probably won't mod the evo much power wise, maybe a rear sway to help w/ the balance. My older brother has an EVO, so I know its potential.
