It's been almost a year since I last drove my ITR....

but it looks like things are finally coming together.
About this time last year I decided I'd had enough of the R's oil burning and a few other issues and pulled the engine. It was still running but it was causing me too much worry to have any real fun with it. I've put over 90,000mi on it in the first 3 years of ownership, many of whice weren't ideal (cough, was still a teenager, cough).
After pulling the engine a few things came up to slow me down and just compounded themselves. Full time job, school, and having another car to keep me occupied turned weeks into months.
So, my head is currently at Alaniz Technologies getting a full check over. I gave them free reign to fix anything and everything wrong with it (I believe some crappy head work from a local shop is the root of a few of my problems) and install a rocket motorsports valvetrain at the same time.
RandD motorsports will be handling my bottom end which will essentially be built back to stock specs with the exception of ARP rod bolts and head studs. They will also be rebuilding my transmission as well. Both should be getting shipped off shortly. I might even throw in a new FD but we'll see.
I'm also thinking about replacing my DSM 450's with some brand new RC310's just for the peace of mind of having new parts.
JimFab street compound motor mounts will be replacing the stock units.
Suspension will have the shocks changed to Koni yellows at the minimum although depending on how the budget is looking I might resume with a full on semi-race setup.
Trying to figure out a nice gauge setup for the track as well.
Oh and I'll probably put the stock exhaust back on. It just plain fits better and is quiter. I ran high 13's with it and that's plenty good enough for me.
My goal: Bring my R back good as new status and enjoy it for what it is. Being young when I got the car made me miss some of its finer points but my last year of driving everything just clicked. Since I now have a few other vehicles to daily drive I can really focus on just enjoying the driving experience of the R. When I want speed I can always jump in my turbo hatch, but frankly it can't come anywhere close to being as fun as my "slow" ITR. I also need to own you guys at next Expo.
I'm also in the works to purchase a new place (literally) that is almost an HR closer to my work and has a very nice garage.
Trying to block out how cool your ITR is to drive by pretending you don't see it sitting in the garage every day =
Finally getting the ball rolling on bringing it back to tip top shape =
Yeah this post is pointless but I'm getting excited

Was it really burning oil? Maybe it just had a oil drinking problem

With some exceptionally good luck I'll be there as long as a spot is still open (and the car is running, duh).
I've built up almost 2 weeks of vacation this past year for just such a thing. Hopefully I'll be able to use it.

nicey
I have not driven my car since June of last year. If all goes well I will be ordering my new block (FINALLY!) tomorrow or Monday. Then Ill just need some misc parts and Ill be putting her back together and getting a good tune just in time for Expo. I miss driving it so much. Driving a stock automatic DX hatch for the past 7 months has taken its toll on me

welcome back Brock!

These projects always take more than you expect, y'know?
Anyway, why did you go with stock pistons when you could've gone with something with a higher c/r - like ctr for example?

Wow, you guys have gone without your R for a year. I went like a month without driving mine and I was crazy. I just got mine back yesterday and it feels like I had just got her all over again.
